My wire snapped, so I had to push a notch so that a small metal bar with a hole can been seen if you can work thru that two inch hole stick a screw driver in it pull it to the right tailgate will open. Than take off back panel you will see a bar that slides, place handle back in a slide bar so it fits in the grove on the handle. NOW for the important part take wire and wrap around the bar so that it doesn't slide again. It should be fix. Took me about 15 minutes. I am a 54 yr old female so it's not that hard.

SOURCE: Does anyone know if the back window and liftgate

The Liftgates between the two models will not interchange, small changes made to the rear bumpers and body lines make it impossible for the switch to happen, even if you attempted to swap bumpers (not recomended) the body lines won't line up and you will have a larger headache than I assume you have already.

SOURCE: 2006 Toyota Sequoia - liftgate

If it's not unlocking, The only way o get it open is pop off the trim piece that goes around the window. On the bottom panel there might be two screws to remove on each side. If not then it will pop off to a point, because there are screws on the bottom you can't access. Pull it back and reach down and find the rods that go to the latch. usualy the one that is horizontal is the one that unlocks the hatch. move it left or right to unlock it, try the handle to see if it opens. If it doesn't reach again and open it from the other rod. Pull up on it. Good luck

Testimonial: "Perfect. Could not reach the cables because of a plastic housing, but the process of disconnecting and reconnecting the cables solved the problem."

Great I'm glad to hear you got it fixed. I was Leaning towards that solution but you got it figured out. As far as key fobs killing batteries, I do not have a solution to that yet. I have the same problem and have had with all of my Jetta's. If I figure it out I will let you know. Good luck and I hope the best for you.

My passenger's door open indicator is on but the door is closed. Where is the indicator located? 2005 freestar. Thanks

Normal Operation When any door or the liftgate is opened, the ajar switch provides a ground signal to the smart junction box (SJB). When the door or liftgate is closed, the ajar switch opens, removing the ground signal. The SJB uses the multiple inputs from the ajar switches to determine whether the doors or the liftgate are in the open or closed position. The SJB then provides a message to the instrument cluster over the communication network. The message center uses this information to display the door/liftgate ajar message.

I suspect your door switch is not closing all the way.

Liftgate will not open

There is a plastic pin that hold the handle linkage together inside the door panel.

I would take off the inside cover to the back door and check the linkage. The correct part is probably at the dealer for purchase.
