SOURCE: the tailgate handle on my
pop off the 2x2 cover on the gate. there is a wire towards the back. Pull it to the right. It should open. My wire snapped, so I had to push a notch so that a small metal bar with a hole can been seen if you can work thru that two inch hole stick a screw driver in it pull it to the right tailgate will open. Than take off back panel you will see a bar that slides, place handle back in a slide bar so it fits in the grove on the handle. NOW for the important part take wire and wrap around the bar so that it doesn't slide again. It should be fix. Took me about 15 minutes. I am a 54 yr old female so it's not that hard.

If you go into the back of the cargo area and on the inside panel of the door there is a little square plug take it out and inside that panel there is wire pull on it and the door will pop open..

The Liftgates between the two models will not interchange, small changes made to the rear bumpers and body lines make it impossible for the switch to happen, even if you attempted to swap bumpers (not recomended) the body lines won't line up and you will have a larger headache than I assume you have already.

If it's not unlocking, The only way o get it open is pop off the trim piece that goes around the window. On the bottom panel there might be two screws to remove on each side. If not then it will pop off to a point, because there are screws on the bottom you can't access. Pull it back and reach down and find the rods that go to the latch. usualy the one that is horizontal is the one that unlocks the hatch. move it left or right to unlock it, try the handle to see if it opens. If it doesn't reach again and open it from the other rod. Pull up on it. Good luck

Testimonial: "Perfect. Could not reach the cables because of a plastic housing, but the process of disconnecting and reconnecting the cables solved the problem."
