Question about Chevrolet Malibu
Check for blown fuse, if the fuse is good, the turn signal switch in steering column control both of these functions.

I have the same problem.. I found that this was a common problem and the car was recalled for the 2000-2001 model yrs.. the hazard-turn signal module is above the AC controls.. the dash panel has to be taken off and the unit replaced or if the plug is corroded it might be able to be cleaned and plugged back in..the dealer I took my car to just replaced 2 bulbs ..that wasn't the problem..
