Question about 1991 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

There is a clicking sound coming from an area behind the glove compartment especially when I turn on the air conditoning. It goes away when I turn off the heater. The fan is working fine but the heating and cooling functions don't seem to be working at best performance. I recently had a cooling system flush.

    the heater don't work

My heater doesn't work either...it just blows cold air. The clicking noise is about every 3-4 seconds when the heat is on and rarely does it when it's turned to the air conditioner. Any suggestions????

    Thanks :)

The solution is your blend door actuator i had the same problem and you have to tear the entire dash apart to get to it, its e only way to fix the problem. the actuator on the door goes bad and will only let heat in, it sucks but thats the only way to fix it

2012 Fiesta clicking sound coming from glove compartment

I think this may be the heater/AC air temperature control blend door actuator motor gears slipping over teeth, this is due to a sticking blend door that is hard for the electric motor to move due to heat warping. Remove the dash and replace them is my advice.

99 ford mustang behind glove compartment hissing

Could be several diff things, might be as simple as a leak in the air condition duct work, turn off the air when you start it and see if it goes away. Also there is a vacuum line under the dashboard, you will have to remove the glove box to trace it down. GOOD LUCK!

Hi i have a clicking noise behind the dash board of my 53plate saab 93 1.9 tid it starts when you turn the engine on and lasts for around 10seconds and then goes off, also when i turn the car off it does...

I think the sound your describing comes from the ventilation system, if you push the button on your ventilation system that controls the air recycling it should reproduce the sound that you are describing.Apparently it is a plastic gear that switches between outside air and recycling and this gear has become damaged and lost some of its teeth.
You have to dismantle your glove box to be able to get to the mechanism to replace it. I have the same problem with my 2004
9-3 and as this fault does not affect the running of the car and the ventilation system is still fully functional i have decided to leave it as is. Hope this is of some help

WHERE IS THE AIR FILTER LOCATED

The intake air filter is located under the hood on the right side ( a black tube leading to a black box which the filter is in). the cabin air filter is behind the glove compartment, just unscrew the one screw on the right of the glove compartment which holds the linkage and remove the two black tabs on each side of the inside of the glove compartment, to do this simply turn and pull each tab ( a little plier may be useful because they may be kinda tight). the glove compartment should now fall freely. behind it is a white tray which holds the air filter, simply pull it out and clean it or replace it, HINT...the funky smell that comes out of your air vents is usually caused by a dirty cabin air filter
