Go to an auto glass installer, they are in the phone book, some will even come to you. Never go to the dealer if you can go somewhere else they always get list price. Call the ford dealer's parts dept and get a quote then call the glass company and get a quote. You will see what I mean. I have sold parts for 30 years I know what I'm talking about.
Check the junkyards for the same model of vehicle.
I've seen a number of temporary fixes. The safest is to tape on a section of the clear plastic film made to seal drafty household windows. Apply the tape to the trim on the inside, or use a tape guaranteed not to peel the paint on removal. Ordinary polyethylene sheet made for dropcloth usage is more durable, but visibility is poor. Opaque material such as cardboard is dangerous and flat out illegal, unless you won't be driving the vehicle before repair.
I have a high deductible on my comprehensive coverage, but glass is exempt from the deductible. Check your policy or call your insurance agent to see if you have a similar provision.
