How do I change plugs and wires on a 1997 v-6 CAMARO?

you can change each plug and wire one at a time so you don`t mix up the wire order. twist and pull the plug wire off the plug then using a 5/8" spark plug socket with an extension and ratchet and remove the plug. take new plug and gap the plug to proper gap which will be .045" and install into engine. then remove the plug wire from any holding brackets and the distributor cap and match the wire length with a new wire and install the same way. then proceed to the next one.

Why do my spark plug wires I'm my 1994 ford

Probably not seated well on the plug. When you push the plug wire boot over the plug, you have to make sure the wire end terminal's ring end snaps onto the spark plug. It is not connected tight until you hear the wire's end terminal snap or click onto the tip of the spark plug. If you can't hear the snap, the end of the wire may not be seating onto the spark plug tip. Push the boot back away from the spark plug wire end to investigate-the boots can get very stubborn with age-keep twisting it and pushing it till you get it moving back from end of wire. Examine the metal end tip of wire-trey to snap a spark plug down onto it now-if there is a problem with the end terminals you will see it-it may be too big to snap over the spark plug tip and hold securely, or if the ends are bent, use pliers to straighten them out. If these are aftermarket spark plug wires, the end terminals may be too small to go over the spark plug tip. You would then need a new set of spark plug wires.

I suspect you just have not pushed the wires down far enough to seat them on the plugs-push the wires onto the plugs until you hear them snap or click. Then they are seated firmly, and should not be popping off.

    Inspection

Inspect for the correct routing of the spark plug wires. Improper routing may cause cross-firing. Inspect each wire for any signs of cranks or splits in the wire. Inspect each plug wire boot for tearing, piercing, arcing, carbon tracking or a corroded terminal.
If there is any corrosion, carbon tracking or arcing indicated on a plug wire boot or terminal, both the plug wire and component it was connected to should be replaced.

How to change te spark plugs

Hi: If this is your 1st time to Change your Spark Plugs, I recommend that you First of All Get the Correct Spark Plugs from your Auto Parts Store, Then Locate your Spark Plug Wires which run from your Distributor Cap to your Spark Plugs. If you have a V-8 There will be 8 if you Have a V-6 Then You'll have six Spark Plug Wires and 1- COIL Wire which is located in the Center of your Distributor Cap to your Coil. It is the Shortes Wire.I Recommend you ONLY do 1-Spark Plug at a Time, This will Prevent you from getting any of your wires Crossed which will Cause your Engine to Run Rough ,Back Fire or Not even Start,So just Pull off 1-Wire From Spark Plug and one Wire From Your Distributor Cap, You'll Need a Spark Plug Socket Probally 5/8th in. And a Ratchet and 2- Different Size Extensions to beable to reackh all your Spark PlugsNOTE!! Buy you a Spark Plug Wire Tool there not very Expensive but well worth it,This was you Can Pull the Wires with out Damaging Your Wires. And you Might Want to Put NEW Spark Plug Wires On as well, If So and I do Recommend This. And Again Just do 1- Wire and Plug At a Time So you'll know you Have Not Crossed any Wires. Hope This Helps You ,Please Respond by Voting on This Problem And How it Helped You. Thanks From WYOCWBOY

    The correct arrangement?

I always remove one plug wire, replace that spark plug, and then replace that one spark plug wire. This way I never cross which plug wire to which position.
