Question about GMC Jimmy
I assume you are referring to the ECM. The ECM is fairly simple to replace on this vehicle. It is located on the passenger side of the vehicle under the kick panel just under the glove box. Disconnect the battery and remove any static from your body by touching a metal part of the vehicle. It would be in your best interest to get a grounding strap that goes on your wrist and clips to a metal ground. You can get them at your local Radio Shack. Once you have grounded yourself the ECM can be removed from its mounting bracket and the electrical connections removed. Ground yourself again prior to touching the new ECM, connect the electrical connectors to the the new ECM and re attach it to the mounting bracket. Re-connect the battery, start the vehicle. The vehicle may idle rough for a few minutes while the ECM "learns" the engine systems. Drive the vehicle conservatively for the first 15 minutes to allow the ECM to continue to "learn". If you have a " CHECK ENGINE" light the problem can be retrieved for FREE by visiting you local AUTO ZONE or other auto parts store. Good luck. If you can hook up a VCR or a DVD player you should be able to handle this without much difficulty.
