My Pontiac is leaking antifreeze from the breathing hose on the coolant tank, please help

I'm not completely clear on what you mean, but here are some things to check.
1. Check the hose from the radiator neck to the overflow tank for cracks or leaks. If it's leaking the tubing can be purchased at an auto parts store. It's very inexpensive.

2. If it's leaking a lot into the over fill tank this could be an indication that your radiator cap is leaking at the seal, allowing coolant to bypass the spring on the cap and through the hose into the coolant overflow tank. Replace the radiator cap, these are about $10.

I have a radiator leak on the bottom of the radiator of my 2000 Chevrolet z71 1500. I don't know where it is coming from exactly. It is a so drip and I can see green coolant on the ground.

Coolant leaks can sometimes be difficult to locate the exact origin of the leak. That is why proffessional technicians use pressure testers, bright flashlights, inspection mirrors, and in some cases even borescopes to locate the cause.

With that said, I would say that if you have a "radiator leak" and it is "on the bottom of [your] radiator" my first guess is that it is coming from the radiator itself....check the area of the radiator where the plastic tanks are crimped to the cooling tubes (main radiator core). Sometimes the fittings in the tanks leak where the transmission cooler lines connect.

I have also seen leaking radiator caps misdiagnosed for a leaking radiator....Sometimes they will leak and the antifreeze will run along the sides of the radiator and "mimick" a radiator tank leak. Remember, the coolant almost always travels DOWN and REARWARD. Sometimes it goes way to the left or the right, but it still goes down and back from there.

A bright flashlight and an inspection mirror will verify most leaks. You may also want to detach the fan shroud and move it back for better inspection of the radiator. - start where you can see the coolant and follow the trail upward....

Our 2003 Passat had a check engine light, and it turned out the coolant level was low. We brought it in to the dealership to check for a leak, and they couldn't find a coolant leak anywhere, even though...

The answer is a definite yes to the second opinion. I don't know how they mean when they say the pump is not functioning properly. It may be leaking out of the waterpump seal in which case you have an explanation for your water leak. That would be a valid cause for replacement and doing the thermostat at the same time is a good idea. However, When they did not say the cause of the leak was a bad waterpump seal I would see a red go up the pole. I would ask them for a further explanation and then top off the expansion tank and go for the second opinion. Coolant does not last forever and topping off the coolant expansion tank is not cause for concern but if it is an every day or weekly occurance then you must find the leak.

Coolant Leak

they probably know where the most leak is, but the cooling system has pressure. when you seal one place the pressure will exert on another weaker point.
to make sure you are not coming back, they tell you to replace all of the cooling related components.
it also give them a chance to make more money. they figure you own a landdrover you should have money.
always good to have a second opinion, any small shop will have a cooling pressure tester.
that's what I would do next to see where is the most leak then may be you can just fix that.

I keep having to refill my coolant tank what do i need to do

There is a small hole under the extension behind where the pulley is mounted, most times barely visible. If you see any coolant there the pump seal is leaking. Many times it will show up better with the cap off, as internal pressure can sometimes push the seal against the shaft and temporarily stop the leak. If any coolant is found there,(sometimes it will run down the lower hose and appear like a bad hose or clamp) the pump needs to be changed. No, it is in no way related to a manifold gasket leak.
