Look in towards the idle air control valve which governs the airflow into the vehicle at cold start up - I suspect this is a possibility for a problem since it is at start up and you haven't provided much other information... There are also mixture valves in the throttle assembly which govern the amount of fuel vs air which may be faulty...

Faulty idle air control valve. After you replace it you will need to reset the computer by disconnecting the ground cable on the battery for 30 seconds then re-install it and start it up it should run fine.

Sounds like your catalytic converters may be plugged up. You can do a quick check by loosening the exhaust pipes from the manifolds and see how it performs.

Still sounds like a transmission problem. Especially if it is revving up that high on RPM's and going no where. Sounds like slipping or something in transmission. Could be torque converter.
