Lets see...gear oil is only used in manual transmissions and filters are only used on automatic transmissions...what are we talking about here?

Reving up when in gear driving

check your trans fluid, if its been a while flush it and change the filter if its reving and your speed doesnt change (slipping) if your speed changes check the TPS and speed sensors on the trans as well when you change fluid.

My 2003 cadillac cts automatic transmission will not change gears pulls off slowly but will reach high speed

please do not have your transmission flushed , have someone take the oil pan off and replace the filter as well and what ever trans oil you take out replace it as well . no automotive repair shop will warrenty your trans if it should suddenly stop working , but just for your satisfaction ask the transmission repair shop who flushs trans if they guarantee it and have them put it in writing . ive never understood why flush dirty oil and leave the dirty filter in the trans , it collected all dirt and metal wear which is what is causing it to plug up causing it to restrict the oil flow

Is the transmission gone when it slips in a 2001 Saturn s Series

i would say not yet-usually when the only gear that works is reverse or it has no reverse that is when the trans is done
i would try a transmission change first-its just as easy as an oil change on s series-it has an external trans filter that looks like an oil filter-just drain the fluid by removing the trans drain plug and replace the filter.refill the fluid and see if that helps

Where do is the tranny fluid filler on my '99 Legacy Outback? Please don't tell me I have to pour 9.8 qts down the dipstick tube!

yes you do but if you only removed filter and fluid in the pan it should only be around 5 quarts. also make sure you use the right dipstick located on right side of the engine because there is one on the left side for the transfer case which takes gear lube. might want to purchase a transmission funnel makes it easier.

04 grand cherokee V8 all wheel drive ,trans oil in rad and trans slipping where vehicle will not move?

Transmission oil in the radiator: Suspect you may also have water in transmission.

Likely culprit is the transmission has a small line that runs transmission fluid thru the radiator to cool the transmission fluid. It is supposed to be a closed system. Sounds like your radiator failed. Would expect with this kind of failure, you should replace and not repair the radiator. Then you need to flush and replace fluid & filter in transmission.

Transmission will not engage and slips when it does engage

auto trans operates on fluid pressure. if the trans has never been serviced, more than likely the filter is plugged, and or the fluid is bad. no doubht its burned and will smell and look like it. get it towed to a shop and have the fliud and filter changed first, then check the band adjustment.recommend a trans shop do it and not jiffylube.
