Question about 2004 Chrysler Voyager

2 Answers

Chrysler Voyager 2.5 Diesel 2001/2. Randomly it will not start. Seems to be after a longer journey but not always. The engine appears to turn over quicker than normal. Will not bump start but sometimes starts after trying to bump start as if the jolt helps. If after several attempts it does start there is no smoking from the exhaust suggesting there has been no fuel. Any ideas

I had problems of conking out and not restarting, turned out to be a fuel pressure regulator behind the idler, below the alternator. main dealer quoted 500 to fix, bought the part from Bosch dealer for 130 and did myself. just use main dealer for a diagnostic check, should be around 40.

I have the same problem, at times it will go 300 miles and others it wont go 3 miles but left to cool down for half an hour it works again. However the low pressure pump is making a noise after reading your problem,we was wondering if you had experienced the same noise from under the rear floorpan[fuel filter/low pressure pump area]with your problem, if you could let me know if it sounds like the same problem as yours it would be greatly appreciated thankyou

Why does the engine turn but wont start on a 2001 chrysler voyager

Hi, it's hard to turn the wheel because the power steering only works when the engine is running.
your non start issue could be several things? So start by checking the basics like petrol, plugs, fuses etc....
also did the car stop when you were driving or after over night?.
Is your car petrol,diesel?

I have 2005 Chrysler Voyager - battery flattens overnight, and will not start. I am doing short journeys which I guess does not help. Nearly new battery, charging system good, and nothing apparently using...

The battery will not discharge unless there is a drain. When the car is shut down disconnect the negative battery terminal. Put a DC ammeter between (in series) the battery negative terminal and the disconnected cable. The drain due to electric clock and immobiliser circuit will be in the order of 30mA (0.03 Amps). Remove each fuse in turn and note any drops in the current drawn. At some point you will encounter a fuse which when removed drops the current drain, it is this particular circuit that is primarily the cause of the battery discharging and it will need closer inspection to detect the fault within it. If you can leave this fuse out to prevent battery discharge.

Trouble starting 2001 Chrysler Voyager in the mornings

It very much sounds like your fuel pump is getting weak or the fuel pressure regulator is going bad.

I recently bought a second hand grand voyager and occaisionally when the car is started a little symbol on the dash comes on and stays on. when it stays on and i come to the end of my journey, the car...

It means that the pre heat is in operation. It is a system that burns diesel to create heat to warm up engine quicker so that warm air comes into car sooner. The smoke is the exhaust gasses from the system and normally the whistleing and smoke stops when engine reaches running temperature or on short journeys approx 1 minute after engine is turned off
During summer when no heat is required and air con is on cooling it should not light even when starting from cold

hope this helps

From under vehicle, follow exhaust down from engine, eventually you'll see a piece about 3-4" long sticking out side of the exhaust with wire(s) going to it.
