Allowing a vehicle to set can cause several problems. The most obvious would be that the fuel system collects varnish deposits as the fuel ages. Some injector cleaner additive for the fuel tank and a fresh tank full of gas may work wonders for your fuel mileage. The fuel pump making noise after the engine is switched off??? Are you sure it's the fuel pump? I guess it could be that the fuel pump has collected some varnish on its impeller or if your vehicle is equipped with a surge valve/device inside the fuel tank, the rubber diaphragm inside the surge valve may be ruptured and causing the weird sound. This will not normally affect engine operation. The surge valve is mostly for absorbing vibrations in the fuel lines to reduce noise from the fuel pump. They can cause problems however, if they are the design that can leak fuel internally back into the tank if the diaphragm ruptures. (Some can do this, and some can't - the main symptom will be low fuel pressure) Also, keep a close watch for oil leaks and coolant leaks. Vehicles that are not operated for long periods of time often experience leakage problems when put back into service. This is due to the rubber parts like seals, O-rings, and hoses that harden and crack from lack of use.

16mpg ?? you kidding me or what at 10 dollars a gallon i couldnt afford to run it thats for sure ,would have to be a diesel with at least 50mpg before i would give any vehicle house room ,Any way thats my rant over and back to your problem ,what happens is when something is left standing for any lenght of time the fuel goes stale in the tank and the pump clags up with gungy fuel so i would be inclined to drop tank and clean it out and renew the pump ,pay particular attention to the gause filter on the bottom of the pump .Then see what happens but i do fell this would help to cure your problem

Check fuel pressure with gauge attached and taped to windshield. Go for a drive. Check for codes and check out TPS Sensor. Odds are high for the spider, issues.

Power fadded over a few days now its dead. Fuel Pump?

It's quite possible to ruin a fuel pump by letting it run dry, especially if it already has years of use. When you first turn on the key, leave the door open and see if you can hear a high pitched whine for about three seconds. That would be the pump priming the system. If you don't hear it, then the pump isn't working. Be sure to turn the key of for about 10 seconds before you try listenng again(it has to reset). It can be hard to hear, especially over the key buzzer.

Jerking while driving

If you park your vehicle for a long time, you run the risk of having contaminated fuel in the tank. This happened to a car my wife purchased, and it was the last thing I found. It proved to be the problem. What you need to do is remove the fuel from the tank and then have the tank flushed. Fill it with fresh fuel and replace the fuel filter.
