Question about Ford Ranger

1 Answer

I have a 1998 Ford ranger XLT/2.5 lt-4 cyl I recently had the plugs replaced. When I returned home, I discovered a component suspended from a vacum line. I do not know where the component is mounted. It is located on the passenger side of the engine and what appears to have 2 vacum hoses attached to it. I believe the component is affecting the irratic idle I have been dealing with. Where does this component mount on the engine? Thank you ST-Fort Worth, TX

Go back to who ever replaced those plugs and ask them, they most likely knocked it loose,,after all they were the last ones under the hood

SPEEDOMETER

I believe that would be the VSS or vehicle speed sensor.. Its located on the rear axle.. I would get the part directly from a ford dealer as the one I got from an auto parts store did not work correctly.. It cost about 33 dollars from ford and It is an easy change for a do it yourself person.. Kip
