My headlights go out while driving. Sometimes they come back on immediately, sometimes it takes awhile. The highbeams work, so I usuallly use those to get to a safe place.

Blower motor stays on with key out replaced resister but no change. any ideas?

If the blower stays on medium or high, or stays on for more than five minutes, the blower relay is stuck. Replace the blower relay. (VERY common problem on these.) If the blower is low speed, and it only stays on for a minute or two, it is your automatic cabin air system (feature).

I have a 2001 S60 and the thermo fans come on after nearly every trip for at least 5 minutes, I would check your coolant levels and certainly change the thermostat if the problem persists.
