The maintenance indicator doesn't mean anything is wrong with your car. It turns yellow at every 5000 miles and red every 7500 miles to remind you to take your car in for dealer scheduled maintenance. You can reset it by inserting your key into the small slot on the instrument cluster. If you haven't serviced the car in a while, replace the air filter check coolant, brake, power steering and transmission fluid levels, and check that all of your lights work.

The maintance required indecator was green and nowm its yellow. what do i usually need to do.

the maintenance indicator is designed to turn orange as a reminder to do maintenance and red if its not reset. if you do your maintenance then just ignore the reminder or reset it. theres a little black slot next to the indicator. stick your key in there and it should turn green again. hope this helps.

My 95 honda accord just reached the 205,000 mile mark. Now, the "maintenence required" window is bright red! However, I can't hear or see anything wrong with it. What's the problem??

That is just your maintenance minder system, which helps you keep track of when your oil changes are due. It goes from Green, Yellow to Red every 7500 miles. To reset, just insert your key into the slot next to the Red window. It will then reset to Green. -hope I'm understanding you correctly.

The maintenance requierd turns red what do I do?

This is just a reminder, which changes color when a set amount of mileage is put on the car since the last time it was reset (7.5k miles). To reset, just insert the key into the slot in the dash. It will reset to 'green' color. On '92 Accords, the slot is below the tachometer, near the indicator, 93's should be similar. If you have any other questions about this, or you need me to clarify something, please just ask.

Maintenance light has turned red what does this mean

The maintenance light automatically starts flashing when you reach a certain mileage - it's to remind you that you need to do a regular maintenance: oil, filters pads, etc..

If your brakes need changing will your maintenance required light come on?

No the maintenance light comes on at a set mileage interval to remind you that your vehicle will be do for oil or some other scheduled maintenance. Low brakes will not trigger the light. If there is a serious problem with the braking system it will trigger the red brake light on the dash.

My 2001 honda prelude has a red maintenance required light on. Has approx 80K miles. Any ideas?

The red maintenance light on the 5th generation preludes is simply an oil light. Press your key in the middle of the dash and it will turn green. Nothing to worry about. Internal problems will come up with the check engine light.

Maintence required on red

Maintenance Required is a light that comes on after a predetermined number of miles. For example, if the maintenance schedule Honda set for the car calls for an oil change at 3000 miles, a new fan belt at 6000 miles, and another oil change at 9000 miles, then the maintenance required light will come on every 3000 miles and stay on until it is reset by the dealer. Some people, especially those that do their own regular maintenance but don't have a way to reset the light themselves, find this an annoyance. But others find it useful and take their cars in to the dealer every time the light comes on, and they rest assured that all of the regular maintenance is always done on time.

What this light does NOT do however is signal that there is anything immanently wrong with your car. It is not a "Check Engine" light (that's the one you should worry about if it ever comes on), but merely a reminder for you to do preventative maintenance. That doesn't mean you should *ignore* it, per se, as you want to make sure you have your car on some kind of maintenance schedule, even if yours is not as strict as Honda's. But there is no need to panic.
