There are a few things. engine overheating (or it thinks its overheating) and oil starvation those are the two main things. do you have electric fans or a fan clutch? if they are electric and are spinning real fast on a cold start up with ac off then your engine thinks it overheating.

You need to have fault scan to identify what sensor triggered light. Reduced Engine power is telling you that it's in LIMP mode.

What does engine power reduced mean

This is a symptom of the on board computer detecting an issue with the engine / operability. It has placed the engine in limp or reduced power mode to minimize potential damage. You may see a check engine or service engine soon indication on the dash with this problem. Some auto parts stores can scan the car's computer to get the code(s) causing the the reduced power mode. Many times, this issue needs to be addressed by a mechanic however.

Engine light on and dash warning says---reduce engine power. and it is reduced. what's wrong??

Many things cause reduced engine power. Could be engine sensors/parts or could be transmission sensors/parts. You need to have the codes read. Repost with them and we can help you with your problem. Year, make, and model also helps..

Reduced engine power signaling

Need more info. I noticed you also have a Q on here about your stability system.... Just as a guess... I'd say you have low power and a lit up dash " including the ABS light ". You need to check your ABS system first. A bad wheel speed sensor or hub bearing can cause all of this. The ECM sees it as one wheel locking up and reduces engine power and trips the Stabilitrac.

Hyper extended Thermostat. Have it replaced. This is the cause for both codes and the reduced power.

Why does reduce engine power light comes on chevy

That is a hard problem to pin point without knowing what codes the computer has stored. It can be any number or sensors or engine problems.

You can go to most auto parts stores and they will pull the codes for you for free.
