My 1999 cadillac deville check engine light keeps coming on. We got the code that said it had to do with the fuel system so we changed the gas cap 1st soon after the light came back on so we checked code again it said the same thing so we changed the fuel pump about a month ago and today the light came back on. The car doesnt run rough or accelerate rough when the light is on but I have noticed that sometimes when I start it i have to turn the key more than once and when its started and in gear but standing still i feel a little hesitation but once I start driving it drives perfect. I'm thinking some sort of vacum leak? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Code 449 is for a defective vent valve solenoid. The engine computer can not open or close the valve or can not tell if the valve is operating.
The valve/solenoid would need to be tested and you will probably need a shop manual to get the testing procedure.
i have got this code before and it just be lose gas cap.....but have also had to replace the cap on a few of them .....the vent hole in it gets cloged....hope it helps
the code for gas cap? is also a code for small leak in evap system which includes the fuel /vent lines and canister check that the lines weren't damaged when cat was put in also check coolant sensor in reservoir connections runs by exhaust system
put a new gas cap, those system are pres. even if the cap look ok it maby leaking replace with a new one it should solve your prob. eng.ligh come on because of the gas cap
