What you need to do is look at the brake pedal bar itself. Follow up from the pedal to the metal square that is on the pedal bar. It presses an electrical switch {brake light switch) that is pressed in by this tab. There is a hole that should be covered so the switch won't poke through. To fix, find a small nut and bolt to fit and tighten. If light are still on try replacing the brake light switch itself.

How do I change the passenger tail light bulb on my 2006 mitsubishi galant?

  • For the tail light you first need to remove the brake light that is part of that assembly.
  • Open the trunk.
  • Inside of the trunk is some matting you need to pull down a bit.
  • You may need to remove a net first.
  • Once you pull the matting/carpet down you will see some plastic wing nuts around the are of the brake/tail light.
  • Remove them.
  • Now wiggle the brake light out
  • Now wiggle the tail light out.
  • Twist the socket to the bulb that is bad out.
  • The bulb just pulls strait out.
  • Revers to complete.

  • Thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Having masive promblem with the tail lights and brake lights

If the metal tail light sockets are held into the tail light housing by screws and the ground wires for the tail lights are also held in place by the same screws. This is the source of your lighting problem, plain and simple bad grounding. It will cause tail lights to flicker , work , or not work. Check the ground wires and socket attachments carefully.

stop burning up your engines. cars shouldn't use any oil, it is either being burnt, which is not good, or leaking onto the ground, which means you'll have no problem finding the problem, it is right above the puddle in your driveway
