Question about 2000 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

Had some errands to run today, got home & put our 2000 Caravan Sport in park, but didn't turn it off (had to move the garbage can). Went back to pull into the driveway, put it in drive and it shut down. Tried to restart & it sounds like it's going to, but just doesn't make it all the way. Did notice a distinct smell of gas. Any help ya'll can share would be greatly appreciated ~ hopefully it's an easy fix, since we're a 1 income family with a toddler. : ) Oh yeah, I did look through 27 pages before asking for help, but my eyes started to cross! Thanks!!!

Try this push the gas pedal all thy way to the floor then try to start the engine if it starts then the engine was flooded this is most likely caused by the engine needing a good old fashioned tune up.

have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check for pump-regulator pressure and filter performance. You state that the filter was last changed in 2007 so it is well past it's blocked up date .. Run fault codes . replace the canister . Have a compression test done as the engine is getting long in the tooth and may need refreshing .. Check that the cat converter is still operational as they will block up the exhaust system and cause poor performance

Clutch issues

This is a hydraulic clutch, meaning you push fluid to make the clutch move just like the brakes.
I would check the clutch master cylinder first to see if it is full of fluid.
The master or slave cylinder could have failed, among other things.
Grinding gears means the clutch disk is not moving.

never hold a plug or HT lead in your hand
in the old day cars the voltage was around 16,000volts so you got a kick
todays cars are around 65,000volts so if you are not in perfect health, heart wise , the shock could cause severe heart problems

when they replaced the tie rod or when the tie rod broke, it might of damaged the rubber line on the brakes. It wont leak, but inside of that rubber line it may of collapsd causing the brake fluid to apply the brakes but wont release the fluid back to the resivor.
