Check for power going to the radio with a simple test light. If the radio unit has 12 volts going to the unit, and also has an apprpriate path to ground THROUGH THE CORRECT GROUND LEAD is the key though, the unit should operate.. unless the unit itself was damaged during the event.

Radio not working

there are 3 power sources to radio. if stock, if not stock more.
Radio power.
memory power
and dial lamp power. (dimmer)

why not use a voltmeter to find out why its dead.
even better the FSM shows the wires, the colors and the path.
making guessing go to zero.

when working electrics pull battery minus lug, like the FSM directs you.
and keys in pocket. causing load dumps can cause very expensive
electronics to fail. even the EFI, PCM.

I was putting a new radio in my car, wires touched and shorted and blew a fuse,i replaced fuse but now my car wont start.Ignition was on when fuse blew

Hi, check the remainder of the fuse's chances are you have blown more than one fuse, if they are all ok then you may have blown one of the main fuse's which are located in a fuse box in the engine compartment.

Changed radio instramentpanel gages lights went dead

You probably touched a wire wrong and blew the fuse for nighttime illumination, same fuse that lights up the dash. Also, you might've hooked up the vehicle illumination wire wrong in the back of the new radio, causing a short and the fuse blew

2001 Galant, my son was getting the IPOD cord from back of Alpine radio and the ground wire cam off and apparently touched something and blew some fuses. The radio, electric locks and dome lights don't...

check both, and the wire had to be a hot wire not a ground,a ground wire cant do anything unless you touch it to apower source, anyway check both boxes notelling what other fuses blew, better save than soory. good luck.

On my 1999 chevy silverado the only gauges that work are the oil pressure gauge and the temperature gauge. nothing else is working cot even the speedometer or the RPM gauge.

The stepping motors in the gauges go bad. Do a search on ebay for CHEVY SILVERADO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER for cheaper repair options, dealer costs $300.00

Igniton fuse continuously blows on my 1995-96 dodge neon

Do you have an aftermarket stereo installed? Well, try this. Remove the ground cable from the battery. Install a new fuse. if it continues, Remove the center console. and check the reverse wire connected to the shifter. It did the same thing to me and all it was, was that wire was touching other wires
