COULD BE FAULTY TPS SENSOR, CLOGGED AIR FILTER OR FUEL INJECTORS NEED CLEANING.IF CLOGGED AND DIRTY THEY WILL CAUSE LEAN FUEL MIXTURE.HAVE FUEL PRESSURE CHECKED.SHOULD BE 53 - 63 PSI.RIGHT MANY NEW VECHICLE FUEL PUMPS SHUT DOWN 5 YEARS USE.FUEL FILTER IN GAS TANK CANT CHANGE IT UNTIL REPLACE FUEL PUMP.HAVE PRESSURE CHECK OUT WEAK.FUEL PRESSURE WILL CAUSE HESITATION ON ACCELERATION.

sounds like your brakes are taking too long to disengage. Your problem may not be your gas pedal. If your brakes are sticking it could be holding your acceleration back just a bit until the car gets moving again.

Well, your 2008 RAV4 is technically not subject to the recall; only the 2009-2010 models. That aside, take your vehicle to your nearest Toyota dealer and ask them to look at the accelerator; while your is a 2008, it could have been constructed in the latter part of 2008 and, therefore, could have the issue that the 2009 and 2010 models are having. I would rather you err on the side of caution and go have it looked at.

sound like throttle position sensor.have it check out.also check air duct connected to mass air flow sensor and throttle body.if air duct is loose or off.it will cause severe hesitation.
