Question about 1989 Chevrolet C/K 2500

89 Chevy k2500 ignition circuit problem 350 v8 My truck turns over but will not start. I have no power coming out of the coil. If I leave the battery in hooked over night the truck will start. Once it starts it runs great until you shut it off. I've replaced the ign. Coil, plugs wires cap rotor, and the ignition control module. I still have no power from the coil to the distributor. Also the ignition control wire that goes to from the pcm to the distributor has no resistance but when I measure volts dc it has less then one volt. I don't know what the problem is, I'm guessing its the pcm. Any insight on this problem would be greatly appreciated, pcms are expensive! Thanks Beckslawnsales@hotmail.com

I had a similar problem with my vw jetta (1991). I am an electrician, so I checked for continuity between the altenator and fusible link and found a break in the wire. It might be helpful to know that I replaced the altenator first the still had a power problem, but later made a jumper with a piece of 16 gauge AWG wire and she fired right up.
If you are able to properly read a multi meter, start at the battery and work your way to the starter and ignition switch.

I have an 89 chevy c1500, 5.7, 2wd. Had it running and trying to get it timed. During this process i noticed the injectors quit giving gas. I put gas in it and nothing changed so i have been chasing the...

the reason the injectors stopped is because the motor is not running.this is a safety precaution built into the computer so the engine won`t flood.if the fuel pump is not working then you will have to check powers and grounds at the fuel pump connector by the gas tank to see if the unit is getting fed power and ground.someone will have to try to start the car while you check this out as there is a 2 second prime circuit if the car is not turning over.also this system uses the distributor to know that the engine is turning over to start.you may have a bad pickup coil in the distributor.this system also grounds the injectors through the ecm so you should have power to the injectors when the ignition is turned on,for your information.

Is there power to the coil?? is there spark coming out of the coil? Is coming out of dist cap? could be a distrubutor, pick up, module, rotor? we could guess all day , but it really needs to be checked out.

tdc is usually set at 8 degrees BTDC for an automatic and 4 BTDC for a manual transmission. This may help. Does the engine run rough at start up being set at 0TDC?
