Before you do anything else, have the computer scanned. Since the light is on, the computer has detected a problem and it's trying to tell you something, typically that it has stored a fault code.
Reading the fault code will tell you what the computer thinks is wrong and will give you a much more intelligent place to start rather than asking people to guess.
I wouldn't think of guessing in a situation like that, especially when the computer knows a secret and is dying to tell you.
Good luck.
BTW, you can often take the vehicle to an auto parts retailer and they will either help you scan the codes or they'll show you how to do it.

The engine is running rough or misfiring. There are multiple causes; to get started on the diagnosis, you would need to have the engine error code read out. This will tell you what part or parts need repair or replacement. It could be something as simple as a clogged air filter or worn out spark plug or spark plug cable, or it could a bad sensor or fuel injector.

Many car parts stores will read the code out for you or let you rent or borrow the scan tool for doing it. The scan tool plugs into a connector under the dash just to the left of the steering wheel. Usually, you plug it in with the car turned off, then put the key in and turn it to the run position without starting the engine. Watch the "Check Engine" light; if it flashes, count the flashes to get the code, and then record what is on the scan tool display. The owner of the scan tool should have a lookup table to tell you what the code means.

My car engine stop running suddenly without any warning in neutral gear position, although I've check using OBD 2 reader there's no error detected. What usually causing this problem?

Hi

have you considered the ignition module that the coil pack sits on because that will cause your motor to randomly stop with out warning.

also the crank and cam angle sensor smay need to be considered depending on the vehicle

1995 Honda Odyssey automatic. randomly it will have a slight jerk, then check engine light comes on and d4 light blinks while driving on freeway. the speedometer works fine when these lights appear...

First thing to do is have the computer checked for trouble codes. The blinking D4 light means overdrive is not going to function, probably because of the rough running engine.

Honda accord 1997 se,when sitting at stop light car jerks continuosly, need help!

This sounds like the engine is not idling correctly or may have a misfire . first make sure check engine light is not on and then have it scanned for any codes, the thing you need to do is when it starts to **** put it in neutral and watch to see if engine idle is reving up and down, let me know. good day

2006 after putting gas in my the check engine light came on,had oil changed one week ago first time this has happen .while driving the car its jerking and shaking also doing this sitting. please help.

You could have picked up some bad gas, but it's more likely that your gas cap is not sealed all the way - a common problem. Tighten the cap - if it's the problem the car will start running smoothly almost immediately and the check engine light will reset itself in a day or two.

Car jerks while sitting idle at stop light

Soujnds like your throttle positioning sensor is going bad. This is the sort of thing that happens before they go completely out.

My 1990 Camry jerks and sometimes stalls

The 1st thing to do is have a trouble code retrieval test run to see what is making the check engine light come, this is the source of the problem.

Engine jerking

It could be a broken engine mount. Some times the rubber bush separates from the steel plate on the mount and although it will still sit on the mount, when driving and changin gear the engine will **** as there is nothing holding it to the chassis at that point. I would check these as a first step then see how you get on.

Try a new set of plugs and an injection flush for the power problem.

Hope this helps
