Question about Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

I have a 2003 pontiac gran prix with a 3.1, the oil filter loosened up 2 nights ago so last night i installed a new filter and oil, started it and it blew the filter gasket out and spewed the oil( the old gasket is removed)i reseated the filter and put more oil in only to have it do it again, not sure if it's the oil return being blocked or the pressure valve in the oil pump creating to much pressure, any help would be greatly appreciated. My first guess would be a blockage in the oil passages. The pump is not capable of producing enough pressure to blow out the seal with clean passages.

Oil light flashing, last oil change 7 wks ago

I belive they didn't reset the oil light timer. I belive the sequence is 1. key on (not acc with engine off)
2. step on the brake pedal 5 times within 10 seconds. 3. key off. 4. start car. 5. check if the light went out. you may have to try it a few times to get it.

How do I change the fuel filter for a 2002 pontiac Gran Prix

Release the fuel pressure by loosening the gas cap, raise and support the car on jack stands, squeeze the plastic tabs on the male end of the connector, and pull the connector apart. Some models have 2 tabs, and others have 1 and the fuel line screwed into the other side.Remove filter mounting bolt, unhook tab from frame and remove filter. when you put in the new filter, make sure the arrow is pointing toward front of engine. On the line with plastic tabs, just push on till you hear a click, then pull on it to make sure it's latched.Don't forget to tighten gas cap.
