Question about 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT Minivan

1 Answer

The transmission in our 2007 Dodge Caravan SXT, 3.3 litre V6 with 99000 km on it is jolting when accelerating cold or de-accelerating from higher speeds. This is not happening all the time, but periodically over the last week. It seems the van's transmission is having an issue with it's setup and recovery when the van is in service and under normal everyday use. At times when de-accelerating during entering an access highway ramp the van jolts you forward and shakes with this transmission malfunction. It must be experiencing an issue meshing with the correct transmission gear required to match the reduction or increase in speed changes of the van during normal everyday driving usage. This van has never perfomed any towing of a small trailer or even a small utility trailer. Two weeks ago changed the six spark plugs to new the same as the originals in and and today had the Dodge dealership rip me off $160 dollars and tell me there is no issue with frayed wires on the transmission wiring harnesses or a an issue with the transmission controller/computer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Derick Coles .

You had the Dodge dealer rip you off?, why is that?? did you ask them to inspect for any wiring issues or electronic problems? I will tell you this about the automatic transmission in the Caravan, if you have reached 99,000 miles you are VERY VERY lucky, the problem here is most likely a mechanical failure of the transmission is emanate. My best advice right now is to replace the Van, a new Transmission will cost in excess of $3000.00.

Replace battery. The CCA or cold cranking amps can be too low while voltage remains normal. Most the time when this happens the battery only operates properly when cold.
