SOURCE: 1999 dodge ram 1500 5.2L timing,plug gap,firing order

You will find the spark plug gap and timing specifications listed on the vehicles emission label under the hood, and those specifications are the ones to be used on that vehicle and engine for that year, and no other specifications should ever take precedence over the specifications listed on the vehicles emission control label. Here is the firing order diagram for that engine, let me know if you require any further assistance, and I an curious as to how you got taken for $2,000.

TIMING not correct, dirty fuel injectors, are your AIR & FUEL FILTERS NEW ? spark plugs gapped incorrectly ! vacuum lines leaking , todays fuel is bad for your truck . lot of miles ? engine could be tired, intake valves worn . overheating @ all ? , restricted cat converter ! its never just one thing, but a sum of a lot of things !!!

Misses through out driving range and in idle worse when in gear and engine light stays on

check timing, distributor cap for cracks or just worn out, check spark plugs if newly replaced check plug gap, check Spark plug wires, also how long has it been since you replace your fuel filter.

good luck hope this helps (PTL)

Changed spark plugs and wires on 98 dodge ram. Now it backfires and has no power

Make sure that the firing order was not changed when you took the spark plug wires off of the plugs. You might also want to double check the gap on the plug. Let me know if neither of these were it.
