The has a spring and valve inside and it operates with engine vacuum while engine is running, therefore, to check direction of installation, **** one end of valve and if you feel movement while putting a finger on the opposite end, then that is the end that goes into the engine. Otherwise, try the other port and **** with your finger on the other end. You are creating the vacuum instead of the engine. Sometimes, the valve has a smaller opening and you may want to check the size of the port on the engine and the vacuum supply hose from the intake. Good Luck,

Tip

All Ford 5.0l engines

A lot of people don't know this. On some Ford 5.0l engine there is a little filter below the positive ventilation crankcase (PVC) valve. Too many people have replaced only the PVC valve thinking the reason for oil blowing out of the valve covers, and any other gaskets or seals, will correct the problem. In reason, the PVC is one of the main areas to check and is the easiest and cheapest way to go. In all, the PVC filter is to blame. Remember preventive maintenance goes a long way have your oil changed regularly.Lee Davidian

Changing the pvc system on a vw cabrio and need to know if is ok that there is oil on both ends of where the hose goes

The PVC system recycles the vapors in the engine ,by a vacum pulse created by the PCV valve. This also picks up some oil vapors and is normal to have oil residue on the related parts. Let me know if that helps

Also, where is the pcv valve located?

pcv valves are generally located on top of the engine's valve cover. A tube made of rubber generally goes to it.

How can I identifies the PCV valve in the motor, where is ti??? and how can I chenge it???

The pvc valve will be located on the valve cover. Or better yet will be inserted into the valve cover. Follow the hoses coming from your air cleaner ( air filter) to the one that goes to your valve cover. Your pvc valve will be at the end of the hose. pvc valve can be tested by pulling it out of the valve cover while still attached to the hose. Start the engine. Place your finger over the pvc valve and pug it with your finger. If you feel vacume then it is working properly. If no vacume is present. Replace pvc valve

I'm trying to do a tune-up on my 1994 nissan quest. Trying to figure out where the pvc part goes

The PVC valve goes in the side of the intake collector. You will see a S shaped hose on the rear valve cover. Follow it up to the collector.

Pvc valve

it is small and threads into the lower intake near the front valve cover.
if your looking at the front valve cover from in front of the vehicle you should see a small hose that goes from the right side of the cover to the lower intake. the part the hose hooks to also screws into the intake. that is your pcv valve6bf35a5.gif
