There is a screw in the bottom of the mirror housingnright next to the rubber boot between the housing an the mounting arm. This might help tighten them a little.

A lose rear veiw mirror 99 s10

If its the windshield mirror, gm usually uses a phillips or torx head screw to tighten the mirror to the base, which is glued to the glass with a special adhesive. If the screw is tight and it's the mirror joints that are loose, replace the mirror. If it's the door mirror, the inner trim on the door needs to be removed to tighten the mounting bolts. If the outside foldaway joint is loose, you will probably need to replace the complete mirror.

How to change a Xantia bottom ball joint

Depressurize the hydraulic system. Jack the front and put on jack stands (both left and right side). Remove wheels. Slacken and unscrew the ball joint nut partially. Release ball joint from knuckle using a proper separation tool. Once dislodged, remove ball joint nut and pull out strut/knuckle away from lower arm. You may need to push down the arm with a lever. Remove dust cover from the ball joint. The ball joint can be removed by unscrewing it using a tool that locks into the notches on the sides of the ball joint. Install new one by screwing in the ball joint back into the knuckle.Tighten well.

My 1998 grand jeep cherokee, when I turn a corner my tires sqeal and the jeep doesn't want to move what could be wrong with it

besides checking tire size and tire pressure the first thing you want to do is jack it up take the front tires off try to wiggle the tire in and out not side to side if the tire has any play you need to inspect your ball joints your tie end rods and tie rod ends, and it wouldn't hurt to inspect the universal joints as well as your sway bar bushing and you might want to check the front steering gear box inspect the steering shaft shocks and coil springs or struts whatever you have check the steering damper if you have one and your wheel bearings.just a tip with the ball joints you should be able to take a grease gun and fill your ball joints and anything else you see with a grease fitting it should help but if its as bad as your saying it is this should take care about all of it except for realignment .this is everything i had to change on my 89 cherokee to get it to drive worth a darn

I could also use the 98 Sienna Driver side view mirror replacement instructions. Thanks in advance. Bob at rblee@shaw.ca

Behind the mirror on the inside of the door there will be a triangular shape piece of plastic, gently pry the plastic from the door, now that it is removed you will see a multi electrical plug for the mirror if you have electric mirrors, seperate the plug.
look in the small holes in the door where the plastic cover was removed and you should see 2 or 3 bolt heads, remove those bolts and the mirror should now be free to remove from the vehicle.
Replace the new mirror in reverse order of removal.

I need to replace the boots on the front c/v joints on my 1998 Jeep Cherokee. Do I have to split the ball joints or is there a faster way

Ball joints can stay in place. I generally disconnect the tie rod end to make it easier to work. You need to remove the axle nut, brake caliper and rotor then the bearing hub. The axle comes through the hole where the hub was. I recommend that you get a rebuilt axle as once dirt gets into the joint it gets unreliable and the price of just the joint is so close to what a reman axle costs, it is worth the $ just in aggravation elimination alone!

Replacing a '98 Grand Cherokees ball joints

The only parts you need are the ball joints, upper and lower, a total of 4, if you need all 4. As far as tools, you'll need wrenches, a removal and installer tool, the ball joints are pressed into the control arms, and a ball joint to steering knuckle seperator tool.Without those special tools, you will never get them changed, if you do it yourself.
