SOURCE: Have replaced ABS module on bmw 525 E39 and ABS

ABS/ASC module is faulty
CLASSIC ABS FAILURE SYMPTOMS:
- Most of the time, the problem is the ABS module or one of the 4 wheel speed sensors (& sometimes the brake pressure sensor)
- In my 2002 BMW E39 DSC, three orange (warning) cluster display lights lit, ABS, Brake, & DSC
- The 3 warning lights reset when the ignition is turned off, only to repeatedly reappear within minutes of normal driving
- The fault is often intermittent leading you to falsely believe you've resolved the problem (proper diagnosis is important)
- Sometimes the fault only appears when the engine is hot; other times only at speeds over 40 mph
- Carsoft may erroneously show a rear speed sensor failure; but just replacing the speed sensor may make no difference.
- All the work is in correct diagnosis of the problem; parts replacement is trivial (from 1 to six bolts in a few minutes)
- Hence, this BMW E39 ABS 3-warning light DIY will concentrate on understanding and diagnosis of the problem

ABS disabled

abs dont beep. alarm does. you will need to check this. abs alarm and ecu and immobiliser etc are linked. I.e locked to you make and model and serial code. alarm can beep and knock out one of the units. sometimes if this fault happens it can be a simple problem like the external alarm unit has its own power but is charged from the main battery. these can go wrong, will beep. you can disconnect this part of the alarm. there is the back up alarm part. I would check this.

Vw polo abs light won't go off. I've replaced the 40 amp strip fuse located in the fuse comparment above the battery but it still hasn't gone off even thought the orginal fuse was blown. Anyone...

Well, first of all, did you fix the problem that caused the fuse to blow? Have you scanned you Antilock Brake System (ABS) module for fault codes? Since the computer is the one responsible for turning the light on, wouldn't you think that the computer would be the one to ask WHY it has turned the light on?

You could buy a VW diagnostic computer and a DEALER WORKSHOP MANUAL,but the cost of this is way out of my pocket. this is one area of this site that really gets to me "whats the point of buying a generic diagnostic computer if you dont know what the codes are ?????"sorry, but i hope others are reading this as well as you.....take your car to a VW group dealer and ask for a written diagnosic report,(it will cost)then you have ALL the info you need to decide what,if anything, you can do rather than paying a dealer to do it for you.Checkout how many questions relate to codes????best of luck. geoff.

2001 Volkswagen Polo Diagnostic Code 17895 I got this computer diagnostic code regarding ABS some sort of Train is missing. Anyone knows this?

Vw ABS codes are dealer specific, and are not accessable with consumer scanners. One of the brilliant inovations in the new VWs. It keeps you connected to the dealer. I know a lot of ways around VW's tricks, but not this one.
