What would cause a winding noise in the engine from starting engine, during driving, and does not stop winding until it's turned off?

That could be any number of things but I would suspect that the bearings are going in one of the pulleys driven by the fan belt.

I have a 2001 Intrigue, its makes a "winding up" noise when i start up' but goes away a few mins later.. could that be my Air pump?

i think the noise you heard is from a loose belt. you can visually check it while the engine is OFF.. check some of the belt tensioner or the belt itself try to full it giving special attention to FAN belt.. i think thats the culprit..

2005 hyundai accent serpentine belt or fan belt?

It could be the belt or the A/C bearing might be going out. The way to check to see if the A/C belt is loose is to push down on the belt if you can push it more than a 1/2 inch - loose belt if not it may be something else like the A/C bearing. I always say expect the worse and hope for the best. So, I hope you are correct on the belt being loose.

Noise when driving & idling, sounds like a loose fan/belt/rattling noise. any inputs? Thanks

Sounds like a rattling noise is a bearing going bad to me.

If disconnecting the belt gets rid of the rattling, I would check for binding or loose pulley bearings.

Engine makes a squealing noise when running. No

is it comming from the serp belt?look when the car is off to see if the belt looks brown and shiny and or cracked,,it could be the belt is loose or just old and worn and slipping on the pulleys,,may be your noise,or if you mean squealing while driving it could be the brake pads are low and the low indicator squealers are hitting the rotors to let you know the pads are low and need replacement

Braking, the vehicle shutters. also, whirring noise at low rpm

Could be a fan clutch. It allows the fan to "slip" up to speed and can make a wind noise untill it gets up to speed.

try checking the tension on all the belts(fan/water pump, power steering, alternator). If loose, they'll whine.
