SOURCE: does a 93 trans am use a 700r4 transmission or

Actually that's not correct. For 1993, they used a 4L60 (not the 4L60E). In reality, it was a 700R4 just renamed to 4L60. They were not electronically controlled in 1993. It was just a one year deal with those. Switched to the 4L60E in 1994.

SOURCE: Replacing a 4L60E with a 700R4?

Not with good results, the 4L60E is run by your ecm, the 700R4 while looking close to the same does not relie on your ecm for commands,it relies on a cable to regulate your line pressure.

SOURCE: will 1995 4l60e ecu, lockup a 700r4 torque converter?

Your best fix would be to install a hydralic lock-uo kit in the transmission. This would be best done by a good trans shop. The lock-up systems between a 4l60 and a4l60e are quite different and would shorten torgue converter life.Hope this helps you.

What all do I have to add r change in order to put a 4l60e transmission. In place of my 700r4 in my 1991 model ymca seirra 1500 truck

A 4l60e is an electronically controlled transmission, and is just an electronic version of the 700R4. You will have to add a computer to control the 4L60. The 700 is fine for your application, (IMO), so why do you want to change it? If you are having trans issues, I would go back with another 700.

Transmission front seal

yes, a big problem. why in the world would you even try this ??? the torque converter drives the front pump of the transmission. is also holds the proper amount of fluid designed for said transmission. it also has a stall speed built into the fin design. it also... really, why would you even try something like this in a stock application.

Does a 99 gmc suburban have a 700R4 transmission?

700R4 is an old name. About the late 80's they were renamed 4L60. But you would not have that either. 93+ Chevy trucks have a 4L60E
(there are others such as the 4L80E which is a heavt duty transmission for like work trucks)

I have an 1993 short wide that i ordered a tranny from B&M, a 700r4. They tranny wires from my truck have a round plug , and the new 700r4 has a square plug. Is there an adaptor for this

your first problem is that you ordered the wrong transmission. in the late 80's chevy switched from the 700r4 to the 4L60E. all the electronics for the 4L60E was changed. the only way you can run the 700R4 is if you put a completely different ECU (computer) in the truck. I recomend you see if you can trade the transmission in for the correct one or you will be going through alot of headaches trying to get another computer and complete wiring harness for the truck.

No the 4l60e is a electronic transmission you need to find a 700r4 transmission which are very common. Check with your local junk yards and are pretty easy to install. About a full days worth of work for a person with general know how of vehicles.

Electric transmission

Hi. I have a '93 Chevy Suburban that is on the 3rd transmission. What you probably have is the earlier 700R4 transmission. What you should have is the 4L60E. I have done ALOT of research on these transmissions, and what I've found out is this: the 4L60E is essentially the same as the 700R4, with the exception that the 4L60E is completely controlled by the vehicle's computer. The 700R4 uses a more antiquated valve body with a TV (throttle valve) cable. In theory, you could use the 700R4 if you connect the TV cable and properly adjust it. If it's a 4X4, your speed sensor is in the transfer case, so that wouldn't be an issue. The 4L60E used in '93 and '94 will only work in those model year vehicles, because of the type of shift solenoids used. The newer units used pulse width modulation solenoids, as opposed to the older on/off solenoids. I have run my truck with the transmission unplugged and the engine still runs fine. The major problem with using the earlier 700R4as opposed to the correct 4L60E, would be emissions compliance. If you want to discuss this further, email me at big.bad.bones@hotmail.com
