1998 Ford Escort steering wheel lock will not unlock. Seems jammed.

The steering wheel was turned when the key was removed. So when you try to turn on the key, turn the wheel one way and the other way to release the pressure on the key. The key should turn ok.
Hope this helps.

I can start my car just by depressing the clutch pedal and not using my key.

Obviously your starter is stuck in engaged position. If the starter turns every time you engage the clutch you will very soon wear out the starter motor or break the teeth on the starter gear. The problem is probably either the ignition modual or the solinoid or nearby wiring. You should start by having those things checked.

1994 escort wagon 1.9l won't start. Replaced starter. no joy. Doesn't even turn over. battery voltage is good. all lights work. when key turned to start everything turns off as normal. voltage to the...

There should not be any voltage to the control wire on the starter except with the key in the "Start" position and the transmission shifter in "Park" or "Neutral". By "control wire" I mean the small wire attached to the small terminal on the starter solenoid.

If the large wire connected to the large connector on the starter solenoid is what you are calling the "control wire", then the voltage readings you gave indicate a poor connection of the battey cable.

When you turn the key to the ON position, you should hear the whirring of the fuel pump working. If you don't hear anything it may be your fuel pump. It only lasts a few seconds but that sound is evidence that your fuel pump is delivering fuel. If it is good, then check your fuel filter.
