R50 pathfinder vg33. Fires but will not start.

Hi Troy, You mention replacing the distributer? Have you set the ignition timing and have you made sure of the firing order, the position of number one cylinder and the rotation direction of the engine in relationship to the direction of rotation of the distributer. Does you vehicle use solid state ignition or points and condenser? Let us know more info and we'll be able to help. Regards John

What does the distributer control

The distributor controls when the spark is required ( ignition timing) by the position of the cam block exciter or points and then distributes that spark to the relevant spark plug lead depending on the firing order.. IT gets it's order from the crank position via the timing mark on the pulley and when you position the pulley at the required number of degrees advanced that is required then the distributer (properly positioned) will deliver a spark to the right spark plug at the right time.

Need a spark plug firing order diagram for 1990 chevy s-10 blazer 4.3l

Firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2. Cylinder numbers are, front to rear: left side (driver) 1,3,5, right side 2.4,6. Distributer numbers are: 1 in front side of cap. numbers run clockwise same as firing order from number one position.

I need to know what the # 1 2 3 4 5 6 where they are on the distributer cap I have the order for the motor but where are they on the distributer cap

i cannot be of much help here as never seen one but what i would do in this case to take a rocker cover off and follow the valves ,so inlet valve closes and exahust is coming around to open then cylinder is firing so if you know the number of the cylinder you fit that lead into position rotor arm is pointing at and then follow that lead with the firing order starting from that number .
