2001 dodge stratus no crank no start from ignition

When you use the ignition key you activate both the starter and ignition circuits. When you jump the starter motor all you do is crank the engine - you have not energized the ignition so car will not start.

2001 ford windstar won't start

does it have the halo around the ignition switch for anti theft? ive seen a lot of those fail and need replaced. on a side note be careful jumping the start on those vans,if the ecm doesnt start it sometimes it wont shut it off either. could be the resistor in the key too.

Car won't start without a jump but battery okay

wont crank or wont start.??
no car starts , if it cant crank. (unless push starter (M/T magic)
that is not a trans sensor its the PRN switch.
ill answer for, wont CRANK !
it wont crank even with a good battery (charged) or jump started.
1: bad start
2: bad wires to same.
so hot wire the starter small wire, the key start line is tiny.
cranks. , starter good, no crank starter bad or cables bad.
if it cranks hot wired, then the key line is dead.
easy, huh?

My car will power up but wont crank i believe its the starter

check if you're getting a 12 volt signal to the small wire going to your starter when you try to start it. And also 12 volt all the time to the big wire. if the small wire doesn't have 12, then I'd suspect the ignition switch, if both get 12, then it,s definitely the starter.

2001 Ford Windstar wont start, battery good, starter good, fuses good, instruments light are bright but when you crank it the lights go out and nothing happens

if your lights go out when you try to start the motor the battery isn' t good or your starter motor is drawing to much current,if your battery is in good condition the voltage should'nt drop below 10 volts when the starter is engaged....hope this helps....cheers

No crank

shorting to start motor will allow the motor to turn but the ignition system is still off.
try with key turned to ignition position.
suspect starter solenoid on starter motor.
suspect fuses maybe there is a fuse which has blown.
suspect ignition key switch maybe defective.
