I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute ES V6 4 WD. I get a cracking or creaking noise & also bumping noise when driving over irregular road surfaces. It only stared this for about the last 6 months. I have looked under the car for anything that may be loose but can't find anything. The car has about 70,000 miles on it. It sounds like sometime it may be coming from the front & other times it sounds like it is coming from the rear.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. C.E.Buse

Try having your ball joints and steering arms checked out. If they need to be greased or replaced they can make that sound. I would get them checked asap as well or else they can break and the wheel and hub can fall off, causing a much larger bill.

I hit a median while turning left. Why does my vehicle make a loud squeaking noise when I turn the steering wheel or when I hit a bump?

Please get your car checked. You may have bent the Tie rods or the control arm and the Ball joint is making the Squeaking noise. Sway bar end links and Strut bearing will also make noise going over bumps.

Unfortunately there are several things it could be. Check the tie rods, ball joints, calipers and shocks. All of these can cause a loud noise over bumps.

Why is my 2008 Lincoln Navigator making a loud metal grinding noise?

If you have not had the cv joints checked or the "U" joints checked I would do that as what you describe is a joint that is binding up under load or turns.

I need help with my 1994 pontaic grand am. I just bought the car and it has a terrible clunking noise in the front mostly when I turn the wheel. What could this be? Could it be tie rod, cv joints, shocks or...

Jack up the wheel and see if it has play up and down and left and right. Have someone watch inboard as you move it. A bad cluck will usually show itself.
