sound like you could have faulty wheel speed sensor.bad wheel bearing.have vechicle code scan.look in owners manual in glove compartment for traction control button location.most time traction control button on dash.
Your owners manual s a good place to start looking for traction control information...If you don't have the owner manual... if your model has traction control you should see a light on the instrument panel cluster when it engages.
Some models may have a switch to turn off the traction control but I am unable to locate a owners manual for your 2006...
Alexandre, check in your owners manual for small off button on the shifter under the large engage button. If you do not want traction control on in your vehicle check your manual for traction control fuse location and remove fuse. I can not say this is a wise thing to do, because your traction control is a safety feature for your vehicle. ABS braking system will be lost if you pull the fuse also. Pulling the fuse will disable abs, traction and stability control. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

traction control is automatically controlled through the abs control module. you can only turn it on or off with a switch located on the dash. it monitors if a wheel losses traction and applies the brake on that wheel to regain traction.
Seems like you car has traction control, but no switch to turn it off. A proper fix would be to put the gear selector on reverse or low, and the traction would go off.
I have a 2011 Chevy surburban, I just had new tires installed and when I left, the traction control suddenly triggers sporatically. do you think this is abs/ traction control is having this issue?
that is what it is desgined to do - reduce acceleration and apply the brakes intermittently when the wheels spin. You have a switch you cn push to disable it. You need to disable each time you start car. See owner manual.
06-10: Traction Control
1996 Contour, Mystique Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
Traction Control System
The optional traction control system is designed to control wheel spin when accelerating on slippery or loose surfaces. Traction control system is available only with anti-lock brakes.
The traction control system includes the following components:
Hydraulic control unit.
Throttle control actuator (9N825).
Traction control switch.
Traction control warning indicator.
Front brake anti-lock sensor (2C204).
Rear brake anti-lock sensor (2C190).
The traction control system operates as follows:
System functions by transferring torque from the spinning wheel to the wheel with the most traction.
This is achieved by applying the brake at the spinning wheel through the hydraulic control unit or reducing the throttle opening.
Traction control braking and throttle control occur at vehicle speeds up to 50 km/h (30 mph).
At vehicle speeds above 50 km/h (30 mph), only throttle limiting control is used.
If speed control is operating when traction control system engages the traction control system will disengage speed control through the use of a speed control relay. This action is the same as applying the brake pedal with speed control engaged.
