My 98 jeep ran great all winter. Now it's either loosing power or flooding out not sure which but sometimes when its acting up, there is a strong smell of gas. Will be driving at any speed and all of a sudden there is no gas flow I will feather the pedal and nothing until it decides to go and then it may or may not backfire so bad that the last time it blew my exhaust. have a complete tune up and changed the crank sensor which eleminated the problem before winter, seems to run fine in the cold, but as soon as it warms up outside, it acts up. especially in moisture situations above 35 degrees

It's turning on and off for a reason. Have your Mechanic check your a/couple and see how much freon it has. It could be that it had to much, or it needs some
if it acts like you turned the key off where the motor just shuts off without missing and sputturing i would for sure look at changing crankshaft sensor or may be a camshaft sensor if it has one. once sensor looses track of timing computer will shut down motor.
Have you checked to make sure you hooked everything back up and correctly some of these hoses have a airflow sensor in them ? The best bet would be to go over all the hoses check for cracks in them.Have a scan ran on the ECM/PCM to see what codes come up some auto parts stores will run this scan for free.it will tell you if a part is going bad. Hope this helps and good luck
This is basic, but first off, try to shift it into neutral, and try to start it. It is easy for the linkage to get out of adjustment, where it thinks the jeep is in gear. If that does not work, make sure you have battery power to the ignition and starter.
