Question about 2009 Honda Pilot

1 Answer

It doesn't happen everytime but the first time I start my Honda Pilot in the morning it makes a squealing noise. It's a one time squeal and stops. Had the alternator belt replaced and 3 days later the tensioner(?) bolt sheered off. That was replaced and now 3 days later I started it up and it made the same noise.

The noise is the alternator belt, what maybe going on is you need an alternator. it could be that there is a bearing that is ceasing up when it cools down and when you start it up it takes a min. to get spinning and this is causing to much drag on the belt and making it squeal.

Installed brand new pads and rotors on my mom's 2007 honda pilot. applied grease, new clips etc. cleaned the springs with brake clean. Stops fine, but she has been complaining of a squealing noise while...

squealing brakes on movement is often a mismatch between the rotor material and the pad hardness. There are 3 pad hardness to allow for braking conditions One is for taxi use where there is a high requirement for long life and good brakes , the next is a middle of the range pad that gives good brakes and good mileage and the third is a pad designed for high speed fast stop applications as in racing cars The squeal is from the wrong pad on the rotor and will not go until the pad is worn out or you replace it with a different pad . Talk it over with an accredited brake shop.

My 08 mazda cx9 makes a high pitch squealing noise at random times when i start the vehicle. Sometimes it squeals when in gear, sometimes while in park. It's not always a cold start or first morning...

Check the serpentine accessory drive belt and the drive belt pulleys for out of alignment issues. Also make sure the belt tensioner is functioning correctly.

My honda crv is making a squealing noise when i reverse my car. This noise stays a bit then it goes away. My brother was driving my car and said he things my bearing/bearings are going but he doesn

This is probably the wear indicators on the brake pads, pull the wheels and take a look.(Toyota also designs the pad wear indicators to work in reverse,so they will continue to squeal louder and louder as the wear increases.)

When turning wheel a squealing noise comes from the steering coloum.........seems like it might be worse going into a corner hard........may sound like something turning in the coloum itself...............

The squealing noise when turning the steering wheel happens in most cases when the power steering fluind is low. Check to see if there is power steering fluid in the reevoir. If not add fluid to the proper level and the squealing should stop. Good luck

Just replaced belt and alternator. Engine squeals very loud when started. What should I check next? belt tension seems good.

Sounds like the new alternator was run without first fully charging the battery (12.3 - 12.8 volts)
This will destroy an alternator every time -- the classic symptom is a squealing belt.

95 honda civic ex squeals when starting engine

Some of the grime, etc on the engine prior to steam cleaning along with any solvents used may have affected the drive/fan belt. I would suggest you either check tightness of the belt and possibly consider replacing it.

Loud squealing noise

The noise is most likely the serpentine belt. Check it's condition and that of the belt tensioner. It sounds like the belt is slipping, causing the squealing noise u describe. As the belt warms up, it's getting a better 'grip' and the noise stops. Turning on the heat also turns on the a/c in newer cars, this added drag on the belt (one more component to turn, the a/c compressor) would explain why it happens when u turn on the heat. Is the belt original? If yes, it's time to change it, and check the belt tensioner to make sure it's doing it's job of keeping the belt snug on all the pulleys. Let me know how u make out.

Unexplained squealing noise.

That usually means that the belt is loose. If it is loose it will make noise on start up and go away, but while running normal, if u make the pullys work more such as A/C, or something, you'll cause it to slip again, thus making it squeal and make noise. Another idea is if you only have one belt (a serp. belt) then if the tensioner, which is not adjustable by hand, is going bad could maybe cause this noise if the belt is slipping from not enough tension. An experienced tech would be able to tell if a tensioner is bad just by pulling on a belt and seeing what tension the belt has at the time. Hope this helps, good luck
