If your steering wheel vibrates when you press the brakes, your brakes rotors are warped. Have them cut smooth or replaced.

If the steering wheel is lock, try holding the steering wheel right in the middle while you jiggle the key, the sweet spot is the mid point, now i get the steering wheel is locked but it still moves a little bit, and press the brake pedal,at the same time, 1=transmission in park. 2=steering wheel in mid point,.3=depressed brake pedal 4=wriggle the key all the way back then go forward..as far as wiring, bypass well i dont wanna teach nobody how to steal a car, gm its got wiring schematics on line.

I HAVE A 2004 AZTEK AND HAVE VIBRATION WHEN PRESSING GAS PEDAL. WHAT CAUSES THIS?


you don't say where the noise is. that is important to give a clue where the issue is. when stopping on the brakes 3 things happen. you press the pedal and the abs pump starts pumping fluid. the second is the brake capilers start pushing on the rotors to slow the car. the rotors are attached to the wheels and that stops the car. so if the rotors are warped you will feel a vibration in the steering wheel when stepping on the brakes. if its your foot feeling the pump working that is normal for abs pumping. you should feel it and holding the pedal will keep it working and stop you from skidding if everything is working correctly

Steering wheel stuck and key wont turn


One of the things is a lock-out switch on the brake pedal lever. Some are coordinated with the gearshift, the Keyswitch, and the starter Relay. Check to see if the brake lights work when you press on the brake pedal. If no signal is going to the brake lights, then there is a chance that the Park shift lever, the steering wheel and the Keyswitch are bound up.

Sometimes a steering wheel is at the extreme reach of the travel in the front suspension. This can sometimes happen in cold weather when the car is sitting on ice or snow. When the ice or snow melts, the front tires settle into a position that puts pressure on the steering wheel and loads Torque up the steering column. Another possibility is that the car was bumped in the Parking lot and jammed into a position creating Torque on the steering column.

Last, the tumbler inside the Keyswitch could have fallen apart and that is why the mechanism is not releasing the steering wheel.

There are adjustments in the Keyswitch to be at the correct position to work with the lockout at the bottom of the steering column.

What you describe could be warped brake rotors or bad wheel bearings. Doesn't sound like the power steering pump.

Automatic shifter will not get out of park or release key from ignition.


Could be one of two things, both are easy to fix.

1. Faulty brake light switch - are your brake lights working? If not, your brake light switch is broken, and needs to be replaced. It sits directly under the brake pedal, and has a two-pronged wire harness plugged into it. The reason it won't shift out of Park is because it wants the brake pedal pressed before shifting into gear. And if the brake light switch is broken, it doesn't "know" that you've pressed the brake pedal.

The brake light switch should look something like this:

2. If your steering wheel was turned when you parked the car, it's possible that that the steering interlock is binding up. Simple thing to try - press the brake, and turn the wheel slightly to one direction or the other (it'll probably only go one way), while turning the key. You'll feel it loosen up. This can also happen if you're parked on a hill or against a curb.

How to adjust clutch pedal on 86 mustang lx


clutch is supposed to be self adjusting. Here are instructions for replacing the adjuster:


REMOVAL & INSTALLATION


See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
  2. Remove the steering wheel using a steering wheel puller, Tool T67L-3600-A or equivalent.
  3. Remove the lower dash panel section to the left of the steering column.
  4. Remove the shrouds from the steering column.
  5. Disconnect the brake lamp switch and the master cylinder pushrod from the brake pedal.
  6. Rotate the clutch quadrant forward and unhook the clutch cable from the quadrant. Allow the quadrant to slowly swing rearward.
  7. Remove the bolt holding the brake pedal support bracket lateral brace to the left side of the vehicle.
  8. Disconnect all electrical connectors from the steering column.
  9. Remove the 4 nuts that hold the steering column to the brake pedal support bracket and lower the steering column to the floor.
  10. Remove the 4 booster nuts that hold the brake pedal support bracket to the dash panel.
  11. Remove the bolt that holds the brake pedal support bracket to the underside of the instrument panel, and remove the brake pedal support bracket assembly from the vehicle.
  12. Remove the clutch pedal shaft nut and the clutch pedal, as outlined above.
  13. Slide the self-adjusting mechanism out of the brake pedal support bracket.
  14. Examine the self-adjusting mechanism shaft bushings on either side of the brake pedal support bracket, and replace if worn.

To install:
  1. Lubricate the self-adjusting mechanism shaft with motor oil and install the mechanism into the brake pedal support bracket.
  2. Position the quadrant towards the top of the vehicle. Align the flats on the shaft with the flats in the clutch pedal assembly, and install the retaining nuts. Tighten to 32-50 ft. lbs. (43-67 Nm).
  3. Position the brake pedal support bracket assembly beneath the instrument panel, aligning the four holes with the studs in the dash panel. Install the four nuts loosely.
  4. Install the bolt through the support bracket and into the instrument panel. Tighten to 13-25 ft. lbs. (18-34 Nm).
  5. Tighten the four booster nuts that hold the brake pedal support bracket to the dash panel to 13-25 ft. lbs. (18-34 Nm).
  6. Connect the brake lamp switch and the master cylinder pushrod to the brake pedal.
  7. Attach the clutch cable to the quadrant.
  8. Position the steering column onto the four studs in the support bracket and start the four nuts.
  9. Connect the steering column electrical connectors.
  10. Install the steering column shrouds.
  11. Install the brake pedal support lateral brace.
  12. Tighten the steering column attaching nuts to 20-37 ft. lbs. (27-50 Nm).
  13. Install the lower dash panel section.
  14. Install the steering wheel.
  15. Connect the battery cable to the negative terminal on the battery.
  16. Check the steering column for proper operation.
  17. Depress the clutch pedal several times to adjust the cable.

2007 camry brakes vibrating


Installing new brake pads on toyota camry solara 2006 front rotors and pads and rear pads. Steering wheel would shake while breaking on 50+ miles per hour speeds. All fixed now.

Shaking steering when braking


Your front brake rotors are most likely heat distorted. When the rotors get hot, they "warp" slightly. Then, as you brake, the rotors runs in and out of true, high spot/low spot, if you will. This is transmitted up the steering column into the wheel. Replace the front pads and rotors, and get the back brake cleaned ans adjusted properly, if you do not have rear discs. This will eliminate all of your vibrations.
