You need to invest into some tools. Ratchet, extensions and swivel plug socket and swivels.

You will need a spark plug spanner.....might be better off getting a garage to do this and change the oil and filters as well!

2006 subaru outback, missfire code - cylinders 1 and 3. Could it be coil or plugs and wires I'm told at service shop. Anybody come across this?

had miss fires with my 92 legacy gt.typical suby fault coil packs always go out in saying that check that you dont just have a foul or failed spark plug. easy fix if it is the coil i replaced mine with 2nd hand ones from the same model usualy find them at most subaru specialists wreckers etc depending on model.

Hesitation on Startup. Battery & Alternator are good. Fuel related? Spark plugs?

If you are saying it takes a long time to start the engine, have you checked fuel pressure before and after cranking ?

Hello,i bought a subaru outback 2002 from 3 months.and it's consuming more gas than normal.(130km/20 litre) could you please tell me what i have to change? and what is the normal consumption for this...

REPLACE AIR FILTER.CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS,CHECK TIRE PRESSURE.LOW TIRE PRESSURE WILL CAUSE LOT OF FUEL CONSUMPTION.CITY DRIVING WILL BURN LOT MORE GAS,STOPPING VECHICLE THEN GOING WILL CAUSE MORE GAS BURNING, YOU NEED POWER AND FUEL TO GET VECHICLE IN MOTION,BY IT BEING HOT WEATHER, USING AIR CONDITIONING TO KEEP COOL INSIDE WILL CAUSE MORE FUEL CONSUMPTION.

Just changed the plugs and wires, in my 1997 Subaru Outback legacy 2.5, and the car starts up and then runs rough for about 3-5 seconds and then shuts down, I bought after market wires, and they are not...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. This is very well possible. If the plug wires are in the wrong spot, it will cause this. Make sure that the spark plugs were gapped correctly as well. Most plugs come pregapped but just make sure. Check for any wires or hoses that may be loose from changing the plugs. Make sure everything is put back on. When you change plug wires, make sure you mark them. I would double check the plug wires. If you didn't have this issue until you changed them, more then likely, that is whats wrong. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and thanks for using FixYa.

Subaru 2001 outback... oil under the rubber spark plug plugs,is this a problem?

Hi,
The oil in the spark pug hole is coming from a seal in the cam cover.
It will eventually fill up enough to short out the plug. Putting new seals in the cover should not be to expensive. Good Luck!!!!!!!

I have 1997 subaru outback wagon that I bought used. It appears that the spark plugs and wires are still the oem wires and have never been changed. How do I get a broken plug cover off to remove the plug?

As you are going to replace the plug and wire anywhere, get a pair of needle-nose pliers and grab what's left of the broken plug wire and pull hard. Even if it snaps the spark plug off, you will still be able to use the spark plug socket to remove the plug.

How to chage spark plaugs - 05 Outback

the spark plugs are recessed in cylinder head, easyiest way to do remove air filter box on passanger side, remove spark plug wires give a twist then pull use 5/8 socket a3/8 swivel and a 12 inch externsion along with 3/8 rachet theses are tools of the trade, the extensions may not be avaible to you but these tools take the bending over and frustration out of the job, the plugs on the drivers side are easier nothing to remove but the wires good luck
