Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If you have a faulty ignition coil the car tends to run rough and may result to stalling when the ignition coil is hot. As a first course of action I strongly suggest the ignition coil to resolve the problem.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Sounds like you need to get the codes read. Could be the temperature sensor. I had a similar issue that was indeed the temp sensor.

Problem with heating up and staying heated.

Thermostat is sticking or heater core is blocked.do not keep running it or it is going to ruin the engine. It is running hot regardless if is blowing cool or hot air. Do not keep using the car.

Could be a problem with the fuel system or a vac leak.
The engine requires more fuel when the engine is cold.
You may need to replace the fuel filter and have the fuel pressure checked with a gauge.

WELL PLEASE GO TO FORD DEALER. INDEPENDENT SHOPS GUESS ALOT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT SPECIALIZED. DEALER'S THESE DAY'S ARE JUST AS CHEAP AS INDEPENDENT SHOP DUE STAY COMPETATIVE. IF YOU GO THERE FOR A CONCERN,IT WILL GET FIXED FOR THAT CONCERN END OF STORY. THE DEALER GIVES YOU A QUOTE THAT'S WHAT YOU PAY OTHERWISE IF ITS MISDIAGNOSED THEY PAY FOR THE REST TO IT'S RIGHT. PLEASE CONSIDER DEALER. MAY BE A FUEL PUMP RELAY OR PUMP. YOU DIDN'T MENTION ENGINE SO I HAVE TO GUESS. POSSIBLY A STATOR AND TFI MODULE,REALLY COMMON ON 302'S AND 351W ENGINES WHEN THEY GET HOT. GOOD LUCK

MY ENGINE LIGHT IS BLINKING, THE CAR IS STALLING AND SMELLS HOT.

test the temperature sending unit.  most mazdas built after 1998 have 2 of them.one sending unit is for the the guage in the dash, the other sending unit goes to the vehicle computer, which in turn controls the idle and fuel to air ratio for the vehicle. if it is getting a bad signal or none t all it thinks the car is still very cold and causes it to run ruff and the light stays on  till reset
