Be sure the engine is running. try to turn the gauge, if this will not disengage, check your vaccum(sp?) line. The Cherokee is very "old school" when it comes to pressure lines!

5 More years and it's a legal classic here, hang on to it!

Check jeepforums.com. They tend to have lots of random information archived, and I bet there are a few people there with the same jeep.

How to change a climate control knob on Jeep grand Cherokee 2000

are you certain its the control knob ?? the heater may be bad...

you remove the part of the dashboard with the control on it, there are hidden screws i the glove compartment and in the pocket. Remove the pocket to reveal them. The rest are under the dash and under the rubber plugs if any).

once you have it dropped you can then replace the control unit.

Need to find the turn signal relay for a 98 cherokee sport

if this is the same model I suspect it is, empty the glove compartment - you will find a panel at the base of the glove compartment, on removal of which you will find a number of relays (including the turn signal).

Some info for you jeep.http://jeephorizons.com/tech/xjstockspecs.html

Are you looking for the diagnostic connector? It's in the engine compartment on the drivers side fender well or be located under the right hand side of the instrument panel, right near the glove compartment.

I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee and i need to replace the heater blower resistor. Where is it located and how do I remove it? Steve

It's located behind the glove compartment. No need to remove glove compartment, but you have to get into an upside down position to locate it. It has two screws that hold it in and a wire harness connector you must disconnect prior to removal.

Turn signals, hazards not working

Mine just went out this past week and found the flasher/hazard fuse inside the glove compartment under the plate with the pull cord to access. The 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo AWD part# on the fuse and called to confirm with a Jeep dealer is:
56007243 and appx. 44.00 from the dealer, may be able to get from an auto store as well.

Good luck if it is the fuse box you were looking for.

Sounds very much like low fluid. It is possible that trans sustained some internal problem from impact, but I'd check fluid first... If further attention is necessary don't forget to inform your ins co right away!!

Your owners manual in the glove compartment should also tell you the general meaning of each light on the dash.
