The front left wheel makes a terrible grinding popping sound when I turn the wheel to the left. It also seems to be driving a little "weird", kind of "mushy" and loose. There is a boot which attatches a "rod" to the wheel?? Well the boot looks pinched and damaged. I haven't hit anything nor has the truck been off-road in weeks, and when it does hit the dirt it's driven gently. I'm unwilling to drive it and tripping! Please help!

It sounds like your CV Axle. If you hear this popping sound while in motion, and turning left, you probably have a bad CV Axle. If the popping sound is coming from the Right side, when you turn left, replace the right side CV Axle. If the sound is coming from the Left Side, replace the left side CV Axle.

That a CV joint you're describing. That boot protects bearing from dirt getting in and grease from getting out. You don't have to hit anything, they split with age, deteriorate and sometimes actually twist on shaft and gives the appearance like you smacked something. Replace or have someone replace CV joint and boot on that wheel and you should be good to go.

Front left wheel is making a 'grinding' noise. seems to get louder when applying brakes! what could this be?

If front wheel drive, sounds like classic symptom of wheel bearing failure and or cv joint failure.

What is the reason for front grinding when turning

This due to either a worn wheel bearing or a worn front drive arm.

The most common cause of a grinding noise when turning is a worn front wheel bearing. What happens is that the weight of the car is shifted on to that wheel as you make the turn causing the worn bearing to make a grinding noise.

Grinding in 4x4

Sounds like you broke an axle off. May have broken a spider gear inside the front differential. Hopefully you weren't using this in 4 wheel drive on dry pavement, and making a sharp turn, which could easily snap an axle or break a spider gear or break teeth off of the spider gear inside of the front axle case. Good luck.

I have a 2002 Toy Camry and today while driving I went to make a left turn. I heard a deep "thud" sound that came the front right-side wheel area and a strange grinding noise that followed also...

check for failed wheel bearings or loose wheel on studs. Check suspension ball joints and steering joints the problem is serious so have the front inspected by a competent mechanic

Front driverside tire hesitates when the vehicle starts moving

Sounds like you have a bad wheel bearing. These cars are known for that. It could also be a bad CV joint [axle] , but it won't usually make your wheel hop. Jack car up and try to move wheel top to bottom. There should be no play at all. Try spinning the wheel while it is off the ground, if it's a bearing, you will hear a grinding noise. If it's a bad CV joint, you will hear a clicking. Let me know if this was helpful to you, and until you get it looked at, I wouldn't drive it, as the wheel can fall right off if it's a bearing. Good luck

I hear a loud grinding noise when i drive my car

Check front tyres & wheel bearings espesially the R/H/F. Feel tyre for high / low spots on inside & jack up & spin wheel if you get noise while jacked up it is not the tyres but wheel bearing or brake pads but more than likly a crook bearing by the sound of it. It needs to be tended to ASAP

I had a constant grinding coming from front passenger tire. Replaced Caliper and put the worn pads back on for a day, the constant grinding went away. It would still grind while braking, hitting a bump

It sounds like the brake pads are metal to metal, when you turn the flexing of the wheel makes them touch the rotor and grind. This can rarely be caused by a badly worn wheel bearing as well, have both brakes and wheel bearing inspected.
