May need to replace the stepper motor behind the tach. Although, sometimes the ignition switch is the culprit. Has the transmission fluid and filter been changed?

My trail blazer will shift to park reverse and neutral but not to drive

Have someone check your motor mounts and your shift linkage for wear, binding, and or damage from car accident or from foreign object under the car.
Problem should be in one of those areas.

Trail blazer gear shift button

Could be the brake switch or the shift lock solenoid. You may be able to turn the key lock to the unlock position, move the shifter out of park, then start the engine in neutral.
The shifter and the shift lock solenoid would need to be inspected.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Few things can cause this issue. It can be a disconnected vacuum hose somewhere so please have a good look at it. It can be a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor) too. If the TPS is faulty the throttle response tends to fail so you will need to have it replaced. Regarding the shifting, I strongly suggest that you replace the automatic transmission fluid. If the fluid is burnt, the shifting tends to be rough and may shift only on high rpm.

Once the fluid is replaced, a smooth ride and shifting will be noticeable. Please have the following be checked to resolve the issue.

Have a good one and thank you for using FixYa!

Car will not go above 2900 rpm s

sounds like the transmission is not shiffting properly which could be a speed sensor. First thing to do is check your fluid level and make sure its not low that could cause it also. Do not overfill that is as harmful as being too low.
