First check your wiring, they are notorious for brittle and shorted harness'. If the sensor was new and was installed correctly, and wiring looks good... the crank pulley and harmonic balancer might need to be replaced. The problem: some of those pulley/balancers after time develop a wobble that affects the air gap causing your erratic drivability issues.
