OEM simply means Original Equipment Manufacturer. That is not the actual code.

The code has to start with:
P for Powertrain
B for Body
C for chassis
U for future systems

The second letter is:
0 for Government required codes
1 for additional extra OEM codes
3 for additional supplementary OEM codes

The 3rd letter is:
1 for fuel/air mixture
2 additional fuel/air mixture
3 ignition
4 emissions
5 idle regulation
6 computer
7 transmission
8 additional tranmission
9 control module

The 4th and 5th give the final information about the system the previous pinpoint.

So you have to give us all 5 letters before we can interpret the information.

Engine has trouble starting

When it does occur again have someone turn it over while you check for spark, if ok check fuel pressure when problem is current, if ok take noid test light and check injector pulses. Intermittent failures are hard to find but if you keep checking you will find it. If available to you scope crank sensor and cam sensors when cold then when hot to see if the pattern changes. Keep posting results here.

Have you read out the diagnostic trouble codes? Since the check engine light has come on, there should be one or more stored diagnostic codes. Since your 1992 is before OBD-II became the standard (in the US at least) you'll need to do either the wire/paper clip method or find someone with an OBD-I scan tool for GM products.

Check engine light comes on. diagnostic test

Never heard of a thermostat sensor. There is a diagnostic code that wil lbe set if the engine computer observes that the thermostat is not allowing the engine to reach operating temperature quickly enough. This code is based on information sent by the engine coolant temperature sensor. 99.9% of the time a new thermostat solves the problem. Use an AC Delco thermostat.

Check engine light and esc light comes on no driving power

Replace the brake/stop lamp switch at the brake pedal, also check for trouble codes. Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any codes which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

Car will not start, fuel pump problem? Will turn over though. Will start when it feels like it.

Have you scanned for any trouble codes?... do you get a 'CHECK ENGINE' light when this happens?Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code(s) which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps eventually fix it. If you suspect the fuel pump, hook up a pressure gauge to the fuel delivery hose/line - you should have approximately 50 psi to the injectors. The problem could also be caused by wiring/connectors at the fuel pump or inside the fuel tank at the fuel pump.

Check Engine Light

sounds like you have a code for evap leak detected. thats why you have been told to change the gas cap. this means you have a vapour leak in your systam. check all line and hoses to and from gas tank for leak. the filler hose and lines may be leaking. good luck please rate this.
