Question about 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

2005 jeep grand cherokee 4.7 Ac fan lost the 3 lower settings, only the high setting still worked. For a while the lower fan settings would just come on, and then go out again. The high fan setting still worked fine. Last night the high setting went out.I have checked all the fuses i could find, it seems there is only one 40amp fuse connected to the ac fan though. The ac comppressor clucth still kicks in and the comppressor runs fine.

Same problem with mine. Fan and A/C only work on high. Jeep dealer svc. dept has no idea but wants $450 to look at it. If you have any ideas or find a solution, please post!

Same problem also. I have been told there is a fan speed regulator failure. Older cars had resistors for the speeds, maybe the new cars use a speed control module. I need a solution also

Exact same problem with my 2005 Grand Cherokee. I pulled several fuses out but all appeared to be okay. Now the LED lights on the AC and defogger switches are alternately blinking. I don't know what's wrong.

I have the exact same problem as described. I see several of us have the same issue, yet we don't have any solutions yet.

Well, the blower resistor handles the lower speeds and the hi-blower relay handles the hi speed only. if the fan still works on the lower speeds then the resistor is bad. if the fan doesn't work at all then your motor has failed and or burn't the relay out also. if you can get your blower to start by hitting the kick panel above the pass. side foot area then the motor is bad. if you are handy enough to drop the kick panel and access the motor then check the connections at the motor. Then wack the motor and see if it comes on then. you will most likely find the problem if you follow those simple rules above. Good luck.

97 Jeep Grand Cherokee fan switch works part time.

Probably the switch. Could be the blower resistor.
On most models the high position bypasses the resistor which cuts down voltage for lower speeds.

My 05 grand cherokee's ac only works on high setting. The fan does doesn't work on any other setting whether the ac is on or not. What could be the cause of this problem.

There is a blower resister module in the blower case, near the blower motor that is bad, what causes this is a bad blower motor,it may run good and sound good, but it is drawing to many amps, and is burning the resister out, this is your speeds. If this was at all helpful, please rate, and thank you.

2005 jeep laredo-heater/ac fan speed control only works on high

Hey! Oddly enough, mine started with the same thing this morning. I Googled the heck out of this and I'm more than satisfied that the most likely culprit is the blower resistor. This is EXCELLENT how-to guide (with lots of positive results):

Ac works but fan only works on high all other settings do nothing

2wd? 4wd? Engine size? Auto or Manual A/C?..... If its Manual a/c the blower resistor is bad, if its Auto A/C the Front Blower Module is bad.

Ac fan only blows on 4 what the heck?

When the resistor he's telling you about fails, it still blows on high but loses one or more of the lower speeds, since its purpose is to limit current and produce those lower speeds. It is probably at fault, but your blower motor will likely fry the new one you buy. Replace together with new blower, or prepare to buy another one not far down the road. Good luck. TT

Heat/AC Blower fan speed only works on High

Alot of people have the same problem with the fan switch and blown bulbs. There really is no fix for this. Jeep really screwed up when designing the heater control assembly. The cheapest solution is to buy another unit off Ebay. Can always go to the dealer but be ready to PAY for there mistakes.
