1998 dodge dakota 3.9 runs great for about 10 min. than starts to miss and backfire no check engine light

you may have a plugged fuel filter as you don`t say if you have changed it. also have your fuel pressure tested with a gage, it should run about 36 lbs pressure if its multi-point fuel injection or run at about 15/18 lbs pressure if its a throttle body.

2005 Dodge dakota 3.7 liter. Fuel pressure bounces between 25 and 35 psi?

The fuel pressure be at least 40-45 PSi and it should be steady, I think you have a defective fuel pump or fuel pump press regulator.

I have a 1999 dodge dakaota 5 speed. It runs fine untill the engine warms up then it starts to spit and sputter and kick. If i let up on the gas a little it quits. codes 171 & 173 came up. I checked...

Ii do not think a new O2 sensor is going to change anything. I think you need to have the fuel mixture adjusted by someone who knows what they are doing. The cold temperature enrichment is not cutting back to a warm lean level as it should. Improper combustion causes O2 sensor faults, not the other way around.

1998 dodge dakota will not start??.....is the sending unit the only thing sending fuel to the fuel injectors? Thanks

There is a fuel pump in the gas tank that pumps gas up to the fuel rail on the engine going through a fuel filter along the way(usually on the inside of the frame rail drivers side). The sending unit has more to do with telling your fuel guage what level of fuel is in the tank. You also have a fuel pressure regulator before it gets to the injectors that keep the required pressure in the fuel system to make the fuel injectors work optimally. Best thing you can do is get a fuel pressure guage and see what the pressure is up near the motor where there is a fitting on the fuel rail that looks like an overgrown tire air fitting.

Good Luck
