Question about 2003 Chrysler Town & Country
I had the same thing happen with mine. This went on for about 1 1/2 years before the compressor completely froze up, breaking my serpentine belt (on the freeway no less).
I would recommend having the compressor checked: it may need to be replaced. Trust me: you don't want this to happen on the freeway in the middle of the night. I was stuck sleeping in my car at a service station over night while I waited for a friend to pick me up to get parts.

Actually it sounds like its low on freon and is freezing up. After it thaws out it works fine again.
Have the freon level checked.
