Question about Dodge Dakota

The motor was tested & works. the wire harness did not seem to have any power coming trough when I tested it with a volt meter.

Do you know how to test automotive electrical circuits ! Using a wiring diagram and a volt meter ? test power to the wiper motor .

Sunroof will not close. Was working fine earlier today


The roof opening panel assembly uses an integrated motor and module to operate the roof opening panel. The roof opening panel motor and module are installed new as an assembly. The roof opening panel is an electronically operated glass panel that can be opened or closed by the roof opening panel switch. Actuating the switch in either a forward or rearward motion supplies a ground to the roof opening panel motor/module. The soft-stop function is controlled by the roof opening panel motor/module. The roof opening panel has 3 modes of operation, manual mode, express open and tilt. The express open feature is activated when the switch is pressed momentarily. The tilt feature is activated when the tilt switch is depressed. These functions are controlled by the roof opening panel motor/module.

  • Verify the roof opening panel is adjusted correctly.
  • Is the roof opening panel adjusted correctly?
Yes
GO to E4 .

No
ADJUST the roof opening panel. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Alignment - Horizontal Adjustment and Roof Opening Panel Alignment - Height Adjustment in this section. TEST the system for normal operation. E4 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR/MODULE FOR INITIALIZATION
    NOTE: The roof opening panel motor initialization procedure must be done when repairs are carried out on any part of the roof opening panel assembly, including whenever the roof opening panel motor/module has been removed from the roof opening panel assembly, a new roof opening panel motor/module has been installed or when a new roof opening panel assembly has been installed. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization in this section.

Yes
GO to E7 .

No
INSTALL a new roof opening panel switch. TEST the system for normal operation. E7 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP47 (GN/BU) FOR VOLTAGE
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Motor/Module C922.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Measure the voltage between roof opening panel motor/module C922-4, circuit CBP47 (GN/BU), harness side and ground.

  • Is the voltage greater than 9 volts but less than 16 volts?
Yes
GO to E8 .

No
VERIFY the smart junction box (SJB) circuit breaker 47 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. E8 CHECK CIRCUIT GD143 (BK/VT) FOR AN OPEN
  • Key in OFF position.
  • Measure the resistance between roof opening panel motor/module C922-3, circuit GD143 (BK/VT), harness side and ground.

Yes
GO to E9 .

No

  • Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Switch C930.
  • Measure the resistance between the roof opening panel motor/module C922-1, circuit CPR40 (YE/OG), harness side and roof opening panel switch C930-8, circuit CPR40 (YE/OG), harness side. Measure the resistance between roof opening panel motor/module C922-2, circuit CPR39 (VT/WH), harness side and roof opening panel switch C930-11, circuit CPR39 (VT/WH), harness side. Measure the resistance between roof opening panel motor/module C922-5, circuit CPR37 (YE/GY), harness side and roof opening panel switch C930-14, circuit CPR37 (YE/GY), harness side.

Yes
GO to E10 .

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. E10 CHECK FOR CORRECT ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR/MODULE OPERATION
  • Disconnect the roof opening panel motor/module connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion.
    • pushed-out pins.
  • Connect all roof opening panel motor/module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify that the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present?
Yes
CHECK the jumper harness between the vehicle harness and the roof opening panel for open or shorted circuits. If the jumper harness is not OK, INSTALL a new jumper harness between the vehicle harness to the roof opening panel motor/module. Otherwise, INSTALL a new roof opening panel module/motor. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Motor in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.

Why rear windows on 2001 chevy tracker won't work ?


Would seem your into the inner doors & have a partial
grasp on things

Now you fix all door windows one shot

#1 Test all switches,ohm meter unplugged or volt meter with power
#2 Test all motors with battery voltage direct -- DC motor will run either direction-- can't hook up wrong
#3 Window Regulators -you know about them (Unless they are broken-you said they are tight)
#4 Do you have good ground side wiring & battery voltage at all
switches & motors
#5 Last resort--unhook the cables & work on freeing up the
glass & window guides etc then you will have found out if the
regulators are the issue

2005 yukon, new blower motor, new resistor,new wiring harness. still no front ac. put meter on red and black at harness that plugs into resistor, 14.4 volts, turn ac control head from 1 to 5 and no voltage...


If you can work back on the wires to see if you are getting power anywhere along the harness. It could just be the clip. In which case you can most likely get a replacement for cheap at the dealership.

I have a draw on the battery on my 85 Toyota pickup it kills a fully charged battery in about 2 hours... Ive put a volt tester between the disconnected positive battery cable and the positive battery post...

What you have done so far with a test light & volt meter is basically
doing nothing

You need an amp meter & a wiring diagram,then pull fuses one
at a time, to get to the circuit that causes the drain,then use the
prints to test that circuit for voltage drops

99 mercury cougar replaced power window motor and switch window still does not work


That doesn't seem possible does it ?

You remove the inner door panel

You think the motor may be bad,so you unplug it,
knowing it is a DC Motor & can be hooked up either
way & will run in either direction
You put 12 volts to it. Doesn't work ,sounds bad,you
install a new one

Now you need power from the switch to run the new motor,
so you work on that
The switch can be disconnected & tested with an OHM Meter
& if worn,you replace that
You checked the fuse before you started & knew that wasn't an issue,
because all the other windows worked

So what did you mis ,short of having no wiring diagram, to make
things a lot easier?

the crank sensor is usually located near the crankshaft of the engine, not on the transmission with wires leading to it.

TESTING Fig. 1: Attach suitable jumper wires between the CKP sensor and CKP sensor harness. A DC volt meter can then be attached to the necessary terminals to test the sensor as the engine is being cranked 91114p21.jpg
Typically, when a crankshaft position sensor DTC is set, checking the integrity of the wiring connecting the sensor (using a digital volt meter) to the PCM harness connector is the best way to determine if the sensor is faulty. If the wires all have continuity, and a DTC is set, it is probable that the sensor is faulty. Although a procedure is given here for testing of the crankshaft sensor itself, it is generic, and may not apply to every vehicle. Typically, the crankshaft position sensor harness connector wire leads are labeled. However, it is advisable to use this procedure in conjunction with the wiring diagrams in Section 6 to identify the terminals on the crankshaft sensor before connecting test leads.
  1. Turn the ignition key OFF.
  2. Unplug the sensor electrical harness and check the terminals for corrosion and damage.
  3. Check the sensor wiring harness wires for continuity and repair as necessary.
  4. Attach the sensor harness making sure it is firmly engaged.
  5. Using a Digital Volt Ohm Meter (DVOM) set on the DC scale, backprobe the sensor signal terminal (terminal A) with the positive lead of the meter and backprobe the sensor ground terminal (terminal B) with the negative lead of the meter.
  6. Have an assistant crank the engine and observe the meter.
  7. You should have approximately a 5 volt reference signal pulse. If not the sensor may be defective.

AC/Heat stopped blowing air. How much to fix?


Check the fuse panel, for a blown fuse. If that's not it, find the wire that powers the blower motor, it is usually visible in the engine compartment firewall area. Test to see if power is getting to the motor, if it is replace the blower motor. Usually not a hard job.

you need a test light or volt meter to find out what it is. You have 12volts {or light on test light} when you touch the blue wire and moving the switch in the up posiion, And 12 volts on the brown wire when you push the switch down position.

trace the two wires by analyzing which power are you missing...

run a wire from the positive of the battery and put the red wire of the volt meter to it and place the black wire of the meter to the black that goes to the motor.

if there is 12 volts, you have a negative terminal to the motor.

if you dont have, then you dont have the negative terminal to the motor.

next transfer the wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the negative terminal of the battery.

now put the bllack wire of the meter to the wire and test the red /or blue wire that goes to the motor.

it should have a reading of 12 volts.

if there is no reading , then there is no positive 12 volt present on the blue/red wire.

from these test, you can know which wire does not have the power.

that is what you are missing..

p.s.

you could have just missed the black wire to be screwed on the housing of the blower motor.
