Check your fuses as when you charged the battery it may have shorted or sparked and blown the fuses. Also have a load test run on the battery and an output test on the alternator at an auto parts chain store where they will do this for free. You didn't mention why the battery needed charged but something may be wrong with the charging system causing these certain to malfunction.

BMW X5 fuel gauge doesnt register gas in tank

Very expensive. Try all of the above. If they all fail then last resort is a complete system reset. Disconnect battery for 8 hrs. Reconnect and start car. Do not lock doors or else leave a window open when you do this. Car will not unlock or allow you to open any hood liftgate etc without battery.

BMW 2002 X5 Battery Drain

I am having the same problem with my 2002 X5. There is a motor or fan running behind the AC control panel on the dash and if I pull fuse 48 it stops and the battery doesn't drain. Still looking for the cause and solution so that I don't have to keep pulling and installin fuse 48. BMW garage suggested that it was the Final Stage Blower Resistor. I replaced this and no change. I hope someone has an answer that will help us both.

If they disconnect the battery on a 2001 bmw x5 does that interfere with the speedometer

All is controlled by the computer. When you disconnect the battery for a period of time, after reconnect the computer will reset. Nothing works without the computer telling it to.

Try disconnecting the battery for 10 min and see if resetting the system fixes your problem . You will loose all your presets but you can reset them, if it works Good Luck

Keyless entry will not operate nor can i crank 2002 escalade

i think the battery in this key is dead. the ignition is suppose to recharge the key through normal use. if the key is not used often enough, it will lose its charge and need to be reprogrammed by the dealer.

try your other key to see if it will work. once you get them both working again, make sure to rotate them every 6 months so both maintain a full charge.

if you find the ignition is not recharging the key, then a trip to the dealer will be necessary to get it fixed. you might still be covered by the 4 year bumper to bumper warranty as long as you are under 50,000 miles regardless if you bought it new or used at a non BMW dealership or private sale.

good luck
